Hi I’m currently looking for replace my swift with a newer Leon, I’m looking at a 16 plate 1.4 tsi, is there any problems with the model or engine.

I did have a 2008 Leon tsi reference sport, which I loved, I’m assuming it’s mainly the same engine but probably tweaked, as power is up on the older one.

I never had any major problems with the Leon, reliable, handles well n pretty pokey for a 1.4

To be honest my first both leons Iv owned have been the longest owned in my many cars Iv had over the years

Thanks for any advice
Bob

Leon 3 has newer generation of TSI engines (if you are interested in 1.4 or 1.5 their generation name is EA211). They does not have problems with timing chain which previous generation of Leons is famous of, because they have timing belt ;)

I am driving Leon 3 with 1.4 125HP CZCA engine from 2017 for over three years and after 50000km it is working like a charm. Replace oil regularly, not after 30000km as manufacturer expects but rather after 10-15k km and other than that it does not need any more maintenance. After 120000-150000km timing belt should be checked whether it looks "fresh" because (according to maintenance docs) it does not have change interval.
