Cold Start Engine Tapping?

Hi sam. Mines does exacly the same. Bin doin it for round 2 days. Is it defenatly the cam chain tensioner? And wer is it? Under the rocker cover?

my car does this as well, its a 1.4 100hp engine, it only does it when been left for a while (engine is cold) and the temp outside is quite cold as well. I got told the cause of it is that the tappets are hydraulic and that they make this noise because the oil has not fully circulated around the engine.

i know for sure 100% mine is cam chain tensioner had about 4 vag specialist av a look

here we go its only about 2 seconds when it first starts up then it goes to its normal tappy sound i got two the second one is a shorter sound as i had just driven to the kabab place

Had a quick listen this morning when I put some screen wash in, sounded like it was coming from the left side of the engine, but like I said, it was a QUICK look, it was minus 2 and was freezing my balls off...

Noticed something about this the other day, if I switch my heater contrl dial to cold, then the tapping goes away, but as soon as i switch it to hot, then it starts tapping again, very strange.

Open the bonnet turn car in there is a black box with pipes coming out if it behind the washer bottle (carbon canister) put your ear to it is it tgat tapping?

No it isnt that, it actually sounds like its coming from the space under the spark plugs

I went out to my car prepared to take a video and of course it didnt make any tapping sounds at all, might be the fact that its 8 degrees out and not minus 2...
