Coilovers with Shorter Droplinks fitted...

arrgghh ive just had coilover fitted to mine the other day, we never fitted the shorter droplinks as my mate said you don't need them. All we did was cut away a small part of the inner arch liners were the droplink would of caught and all was well for a few days. Now i have a knocking noise coming from the front of mine but the drivers side and its getting worse by the day. also if the cars not moving and u bounce the car so to speak the front divers side creaks really loud. Anybody got any ideas as its driving me crazy, sould this all be down to not having the smaller droplinks? Mines a petrol cupra btw and i really dont wana take the coilovers off lol:(

id say yes.
if you were supplied with shorter drop links theres a reason for it.
your cars stance is probally a bit lower than it was when they were fitted giveing you the need for the drop links.

when researching into coilovers for my car i was told by several suppliers that the shorter droplinks are there to stop the anti roll bar fouling the driveshaft when lowered too much (30mm+ ish) but i wanted the option to go low so i bought them!

I had a similar knocking noise but was down to the one of the droplinks being loose......my bad lol

you get any knocking/creaks when going lock to lock....stationary and while driving?

What kind of coilovers did you buy?

erm im not too sure on the make my mate had them on his car for 6 month but hes putting it back to standard and offered me them for 150 so cudnt say no haha, i think from looking at them they are the jamex ones off ebay but they do the job haha. My mate fitted them for me and we ve got them set all the way down, around 80mm i think and the only thing we noticed the standard droplink was fouling was the top corner of the plastic inner arch liner so we simply cut away the top corner of each arch liner were the droplink was hitting, and now i can get full loack either way without any knocking noise, If you have a look at yours thats most likely what your knocking noise is on full lock, it'll be the top of the drop link knocking the arch liner. Anyway as for my random noise we checked everything was tight and it was and the only thing else my mate did was grease the threads of the coilovers up, anyways put the wheel back on expecting to still hear the noise and fearing the worst and the noise had disapeared which was very strange  I think im going to get the shorter droplinks too though just to be on the safe side!

I have noticed today having a look that on my drivers side, the anti roll bar has been rubbing on what I assume is the metal track rod (the metal bar just behind the driveshaft).
Really dont know how as on full lock both ways they are still apart by an inch, can only assume the ARB is moving somehow on cornering even though its stops are intact?
