Right,

Got the coilovers through the other day and want to be sure I know 100% what I'm doing this Friday (booked day off work to make sure car is ready for Seat parking at British Touring Car Championships lol)

Anyways. Bear in mind these are 100% newbie questions as in all the years pissing around with cars I've never handled coilies or taken apart anything other than Mk2/3 suspension!

1. The top mounts (I bought new ones). Do they just sit on the domed coilover cap like so? Is there nothing to go between them? On the old polo's it all built into each other and there was a cap on the shock/spring combination that the top mount sat in. Oh... I've not gone completly retarded and got it up the wrong way have I?!?

Domed cap on the coilover itself

The other, which I guess is fairly simple... the coilovers arrived like so:

which I'm guessing is quite low.. does anyone know how far to wind it up to find a standard car height?

Do I use the bolt that came with the coilovers to secure the top mount to it? IE. I drop the top mount on and tighten it up up until I get to the bottom of the thread?

I then pop the coilover into the car, stick the domed plate thing from the engine bay on there, put the original Ibiza suspension nut from the top back on right at the top and tighten it up.

you'll need to bring them up a bit, my rear ones are 19 threads from the bottom and thats about 70ishmm lowered.

The silver dome cap you have - that will go down when you compress the springs using the compressors you have.

Looks like you need to put the blue cap on top then your top mount and then using a spanner tighten it up solid.

cheers man... thats kinda what I done earlier. Well. Pieced it together anyway. Need to tighten it up but unsure as to whether I'm using the right bolt :

Does that look right to tighten down? The bolt looks as though it should go right at the top (The one accessed through engine bay) but isn't a Nylock one so guessed it went there!

I think I'm gonna wind them down up halfway and see how it turns out (well, make sure its more than 19 threads!!)

yeah. Ok. Turns out the bolts that came with it (ones in the pictures) were to go right on the top (accessed in engine bay)

The top mounts were totally wrong, was told they were Ibiza ones, obviouslly weren't/ Ahh welll. All sorted now. Amazed how no-one said anything!

The ride on the coilovers is great actullay. the setup I took off was ****ed. Completely ****ed bigtime. You pusched the shcok down and it didn't do anything but sit there, wasn't even any effort to push it down!!

Well, kinda lowered properly now. I;ve put up a post in ths mk2 fourm about it if you wana have a lok!
