Well it's probably going to be a little while until I get it (1 year or so). I'm going to wait until 4 years NCB and my insurance drops to £600ish. I don't think I can justify spending £800 extra on insurance just to get it 10 months sooner.

Patience is a virtue, plus I don't really need a car whilst I'm at uni (although it will be coming with me next year as none of my new flatmates drive so I will have a garage and driveway to myself )

Do you have a link for these? They're much nicer than the big, in-your-face, chrome rings, that sit round the outside.

I bought mine from an Italian seller on eBay. He sent them to me, but never accepted the payment so after 30 days it was returned to me. Free vent rings!

Best bet it to search on eBay UK, Germany, Italy etc.

So my dad, brother and I decided to get a Mk2 Golf GTI 8V for track days this year, and possibly the GTI championship next year.

It's fully race specced, already used in the GTI championship by A.Theaker. We first took it out to Silverstone (Grand Prix Circuit) early Feb, open pit lane track day.

So it turns out I get my 3 years NCB on the 15th of June, so I'm tempted to trade up and buy something with a little bit more 'oomph'.

A Cupra is definitely on the cards, so will call the insurers in 2 weeks and find how much extra it'll be. Then if it's reasonable I'll be selling my 1.2 and looking for a 1.8T monster!

My brother and dad are telling me to get an MX5 and deck it, but I think a Cupra is better value for money and can be flippin' quick even with just a stage 1 remap

MX5's are really cool when decked on some wide wheels. But I'd class them as a project/summer car. Would be great fun though if you turbo'd one!
I'd go for the Cupra 1.8t if it were me.

If I was to get a second car, it'd be an MX5. But if I did one up, turbo'd, wide wheels and arches etc I'd never get the money back. I'll be at uni still next year, so don't want to be working on a car project too much. The Cupra 1.8T is reliable and great value for money

Yea I understand, being a student sucks when you don't have much spare cash. :/ Cupra will be a great upgrade from your 1.2 anyway! I also plan on upgrading to a 1.8T, but probably not an Ibiza lol.
