*** STOP PRESS ***

Do you want the good news or the bad news...

Well, the good news is that I successfully swapped the CAN Gateway this morning and it wasn't too bad to do! Furthermore I took some photos so that I could post a guide on it.

However, that leads me on to the bad news. I still have clock shift!!!! To say that I'm disappointed is a bit of an understatement! Am a bit lost for words. Well anyway, for reference I swapped a "L" revision to a "P" revision as I had read on this forum that someone with a "P" had a correctly functioning clock. It would appear that the gateway revision has no bearing on the clock issue and it must be connected with the MFD/dash revision. I'll be buggered if I'm changing them!! So I have bit the bullet and finally accepted that I am stuck with the clock shift!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Anyway on a positive note, anyone want to buy a CAN Gateway that will make absolutely NO difference to clock shift problems?!

Yep I'm afraid to say that I did disconnect the battery (had it disconnected throughout the entire process)

B0llocks!! This is the only thing it can be - as I doubt Seat needed to designed a new MFD when everything else works on it!

It's got to be a coding/communication issue from the rns 510 to the MFD.... just to reduce the space between the arrow & clock!?

I would ask someone that has the rns 510 (without the clockshift issue) for all there settings / coding in the can bus gateway & navigation.......... as I reckon this is the key!!!

Sounds like a plan, but I'm not getting my hopes up!

So then, anyone with a pre facelift with RNS510 and has the clock display showing properly be so kind as taking screenshots of:
- Installation list for the CAN Gateway
- Long Coding for their CAN Gateway
- Long Coding for their Navigation

I know its a big ask and would take a while to do the screenshots, but if anyone would be so kind it would be most most appreciated!!!!

Many thanks

Hi
Might be worth changing the car type in the Gateway from SEAT to VW to see if it makes a difference

what is a Polar Fis+?

It adds another screen to the MFD and can show numerous information such as Boost Pressure, Intake Temp, Battery Voltage, Oil Temp (if you have a sensor), Coolant Temp amongst others.

Have a look on Auto Polar's website for more information if you maybe interested.

Bump!

Any luck with the gateway?

I've installed a Seat RNS510 in MY2006. On my MFSW I've got two telephone buttons, a voice control button, change function button, skip track buttons and volume buttons.

My volume buttons and voice control button work fine, the lower of the two telephone buttons can hang up calls but the upper no longer produces the phone menu on the large mfd in the dash when pressed and the skip track buttons no longer work.

Also when i first start the car, the phone menu is visible if i access the mfd menus, but if i select it, the mfd freezes and then refreshes with no phone menu available.

Everything is coded correctly so i'm pretty sure its a CAN gateway (steering wheel) and bluetooth issue (phone menu). I'm not too bothered about the clock problem but it would be nice to have steering wheel controls and my phone menu back.

Prob wrong topic but any ideas?

Cheers

i thought the clock shift issue was because of the fact that the 56 plate screen uses a larger font to display the compass and clock. I guess that it has a lower resolution than the 58 plates lcd and that changing the lcd next to the fuel/temp would cure it, not changing the canbus.

i need a new lcd panel because its developed (lcd leakage (loads of dead pixels)), i would love to know if i can just change it for a new one and fix the clock shift too.

Any photos of can gateway location? Has anyone tried the later versions ie the AD version etc As it could be the clock shift fix needs the latest ones (not just the p revision tried in this thread)

I'll prob have to change it as even though my RNS does not drain the battery, I've lost the Bluetooth menu on the dash! And my steering wheel controls don't ffwd/rewind or even change track.

Such a pain!!

Hey Sean,

Follow this its pretty well identical on the Leon:

http://www.r32oc.com/tutorials-guides/30166-canbus-gateway-location-removal.html

Its a bit of a squeeze getting your hands in but with patience you should manage it!

As for trying an 'AD' its worth a go, I still have the 'P' and gave up. Why dont you give it a go and let us know how you get on. Not going to lose much on trying as you can always ebay the 'AD' if it doesnt work. I would love to get this sorted, drives me insane!

Im gonna do it mate, as I don't mind the clock-shift as I have a clock on the RNS, but the bluetooth menu & ff/rew & skip track buttons not working are doing my head in lol

I'll report back when done, should be able to do it this weekend.
