According to ERWIN, for Group A countries (i.e. GB/EU): No specified replacement period (but to be regularly inspected), 240,000 km (150,000 miles), then every 30,000 km (18,750 miles).

So why the general confusion? Dealer had said to me 5 years or 40k, whichever came first. By that time my car will be out of the extended warranty & I'll have a trusted independent change it, along with the water pump.

If it is the 140 ps engine it is my understanding the water pump is driven from the exhaust I checked when I had my cambelt changed in March and this was the case on I believe this specific engine.
As others have said, the 1.2TSI and 1.4TSI are Model EA211 engines with the water pump driven by the exhaust camshaft at the opposite end of the engine.
