Gave the car a good old clean inside and out today, checked all lights etc

Went to check the oil and its just under the minimum mark! My car is only 6 months old with 7400 miles on the clock.

Surely the oil shouldnt be that low already?

Just make sure you get stuff which conforms to the VW 505.01 specification otherwise it's bye bye engine. :)

1 litre per 600 miles (1,000 km approx)

So you can run out of oil by 2700 miles and that would be permissable, scary eh!

4.5 litres would be plenty for an oil and filter change. So if they charge you for five make sure you have the spare to top up with.

Some PDs can use LOTS of oil in the first 10k.

My mate bought a new Passat PD130, and used so much oil the warning light came on whilst driving on the motorway, after about 3 or 4k IIRC. Settled down after first service.

So keep checking :)

same in the new rolls royce - you even get a top up can in a nice leather embossed case :wtf:

if i spent that sort of money i'd expect never to have to open a bonnet
