Yeh please do, i use my SGS2 for Sat-Nav and could do with something like this! I hate the window sucker ones they just fall off

Here are some pics of my centre console mount Brodit clip. It's clips over the top of the vent and is then supposed to fit into the gap between the centre console and the binnacle BUT it seemed to take that much force I didn't go that.

I'm going to modify it by removing the bit of plastic and attaching a piece of foam.

... The Part number is 511165

I have taken some photos of it in my car but can't post links yet i'm afraid.
Thanks Boze71 - that's just what I was after. I'll get one of those ordered now I think... :)

I've got the console mount version (will post some pics later). In the position you have there you can't stick a charging cable in?
I positioned the phone there so that it was easy to place and remove from the holder without the glass or A-pillar getting in the way. This was more important to me than charging as I rarely use a car charger unless I'm desperate. That said, I can still use a low-profile cable (like the OE cable you get with it)... just not one of the bulkier connector versions like the Griffins etc. It works fine for me but a centre/console mount would probably be better if you needed an active holder and/or often used a car charger.

Quick update: my new holder (Brodit part no. 511165) arrived today after being out of stock for a few days.

I can confirm it uses the same style of back plate, so I just unscrewed my old holder (for my 3GS) and screwed the new one into the same location on the pro-clip I already had installed.

The fit is pretty good. I use a clear Incipio Feather case for my iPhone 4S and when in the holder, you can still wobble it a bit backwards and forwards. Don't get me wrong, it's not loose and flopping around and there's no risk of it falling out, but I didn't like the wobble - I'm picky about that sort of thing.

So I cut two small strips of duck tape and stuck them inside the recessed bits of the holder, where the phone slots into. It's only a tiny amount of extra thickness, but because of the rubberised and textured finish of the duck tape, the phone is now held snugly and doesn't wobble at all. A tiny and reversible mod which seems to have perfected this holder for my specific combination of case and phone... :D
