Hi guys,

A friend of mine recently bought a seat Ibiza bocanegra. Hasn't got a clue what to do with it as this is her first turbo car or should I day twincharged car.

Here's a list of things I have recommended for her to get.

Induction Kit
Turboback
Intercooler

With regards to the air intake system I'm thinking along the lines of MTC pipework and itg cone as that seems to work well on the tfsi platform

Exhaust I have asked her to go custom however she doesn't want it loud on idle but she wants the world to know she's flat out when she opens the taps so with regards to custom I told her decat with a small resonator in the middle and another at the back box with it being 3inch coming off the turbo and 2.5inch from the cat back to keep up back pressure and maximize performance.

And finally intercooler, a wellycooler with custom pipework to suit or the airtec which has been manufactured to fit like OEM

Are there any other recommendations anyone would like to put forward?

Moving on, I'm not entirely sure who maps these but I figured mrc tuning in oxford will custom map ecu and gearbox as well as goAPR. Are there any other tuners out there that touch these?

I know these make about 220bhp @stage 1 but I've also heard horror stories of pistons melting @ stage 2 mainly because they run so hot . Apparently they don't like it when you keep your foot on the throttle for too long lol I.e track days, cheeky tear up.

Is there anything being done to tackle the issue aside from waiting for it to die and forging?

As they run so hot, is anyone doing or have done a water methanol installation to tackle intake temps if indeed tsi engines going bang is down to the heat?

Many thanks

What year is the car?
fr or cupra?
Is the battery in the hood?
A free flowing filter replacement in the stock air box is more than enough for stage 1. There's a thread in here about making your own custom intake that is good for stage 2. There are also air intakes made by itg and forge that some people use in here.
Don't go 3 inch (too big) and then change to 2.5 (too small), full 2.75" is the way to go. This is a turbo car, back pressure is the enemy. It's very hard to have a mild sounding exhaust on idle and when cruising but when you're flat out to sound like a 2.0 TFSI, you can only get that with a branded exhaust such as milltek.
I'm against decat.
There's also a thread about fitting a custom intercooler. There are also ready made like forge and apr. The bigger the better.
I recommend changing the spark plugs with NGK BKR7EIX (iridium).
Imho this engine isn't worth forging.

I'd run the car for a few months and make sure the engine runs and performs ok and doesn't burn oil otherwise any tuning will be pointless until the problem is resolved.
