blue smoke on start up

my fr 150 has started to give out blue smoke on start up, before it was like black/grey.

It does clear after a bit, last few weeks the car has been slow turning over and feels like it's chugging on tick over when first started, this clears though. If i start it,reverse off my drive and go to pull off it stalls sometimes as well. Fuel consumption is'nt as good as it was but cold weather doesn't help and it still goes very well even with 118,000 miles on the clock,

Car has full SEAT history
Any ideas please people?;)

happens on nearly every pd engine and then it clears when warmed up.

the fix is a new turbo, not what you wanna hear but thats it.

I have noticed that in our recent colder weather...my leon 110 tdi smokes bluish a little, but only straight after starting, personally I will not worry too much unless it also does this when the weather warms up.

Only if it smokes quite badly I would have thought gaz, some diesels kick out a fair bit of smoke during the diesel test...so i would have thought that if your blue smoke clears quickly after start it should be ok...only one way to find out unfortunately !!

I had that problem before as well... I thought it was only the cold weather kicking in but about 3weeks later the turbo blew... Is there a strange whilsting noise of the turbo when your accelerating?

Costly repair indeed..

had a service the other week, and now the blue smoke has gone on start up. It smokes abit but it is'nt blue anymore. Oil has been changed to VW longlife, car is a lot quieter on tickover.

Garage checked intercooler hoses, lower pipe has a slight weep but nothing major.

Seems to go better with more miles on the clock:D

mines been doing this , over the past few month

and is clouds of blue smoke , after warmed up it goes , (even had the mrs drive it thru its paces , and followed on my road bike and was not one puff of any smoke during gear change at any speed

i have turned the revs up on vagcom , and changed the glow plugs , and isnt as bad now ,

mines also decated too which has nothing to filter out any smoke at all

am thinking could it be the vapours recirculating , , going to get my ar$e in gear and finaly fit the oil catch tank

i too thought turbo but its been run through its paces and used most days , and no signs of the police siren turbo noise yet fingers crossed
