More than that mate, 14 by the time they'd checked oil pressure, changed turbo oil feed line, dropped and cleaned the sump, cleaned oil return line, engine flush and filter then new oil and filter again Add the gaskets, washers, bolts etc. for the above and I won't say a number but I'll be paying the credit card for a couple of months yet
not quite, not a kick in the arse away tho - 900 garage bill, 300 for the turbo so 1200 total. The kicker is tho I've always looked after the car, maybe I need to just cane the **** out of it instead!
kinda scares me to go stage 2. but then again it could easily happen on a stage 1 if your constantly ripping the **** outta the engine.
wish there was a way of knowing the state of the turbo instead of waiting for it to pop

Logging it every so often to check it's making requested boost can show potential faults. Any sign of blue smoke, obviously. Mine was making a whining sound which rose and fell with engine rpm from idle right up until it spun up fully about 2500rpm or so. By the time it got changed the car felt lumpy, hesitant, unresponsive and brittle. Fitting an oil pressure gauge is probably worthwhile too, I'll be doing that as soon as funds allow again
It never seized up altogether but it was on about 56,500 when it went to get the turbo swapped. I think some previous owner has panned the crap out of it, seen a couple of problems which suggest the car hasn't been well cared for in the past.
