Hi,

I have a biggish scratch on the rear passenger side of my 3 door black magic ibiza FR (1.9tdi, 57 plate blah blah ;) ).

I'm not sure how best to approach the problem. I'd imagine some touch up paint and tcut might be on the cards, but I'm not sure.... Its not a long scratch, more of a scuff... not sure how to explain, ill stick a pic up later when i get home and have a decent camera., but for now get your thinking caps on ;)

Cheers in advance,
Cyphnar

looks like that will polish out stay away from t-cut. dont use touch up pen either im almost certain a good polish will remove that.
if you run your finger nail across the scratch does it tend to catch if not it will polish out? if that makes sence.
looks like transffered paint to me.

kinda hard to tell cos there's not much to each scratch, just lots of them together and I'm not sure if I'm catching down one scratch or getting caught on the one above/below it... I tried geting a super macro shot along the car but cant get the lens close to the body due to the camera or the curves of the car!

I'll get some polish on it and see what happens, I assume no bad can come from polishing it if it is a scratch??

Cheers,

Autoglym will not polish it out as it hasnt got any abrasives. Your best bet from halfords would be SwirlX from Meguairs. If that does not work I recommend you getting a detailer with a machine to get it out.

Autoglym is just a make, they do different stuff, super resin pollish is very good at covering up light scratches and swirl marks, it will probably require a good few passes though, if the scratch is in the top coat then the super resin pollish will make them less obvious.
They do more abrasive stuff like paint renovator but you always try less abrasive stuff to see if that helps.
