hey all,

I have a leon cupra with all the cupra R upgrade bits and a few other mods when this was done I had a remap and all was good I had 272bhp but being a second hand turbo with some play it didnt last long.

anyway I did an exchange with midland turbo's and noticed a loss of boost and torque only to find out today when I went back for a rolling road it was only pushing 215bhp. after suggesting the actuator was positioned differently on my old turbo it was correct that it wasnt set up correctly and had to be adjusted 8turns to get it working as it should...this brought it up to 235bhp so Im still 37bhp short of what I should be/was running but my torque is as it was with the old turbo now.

the report shows it is not holding boost pressure at top rpm dropping down to 14psi from 24psi. the fueling has been checked and is running as it should, recirc. dump valve is working as it should as we compared figured to another. could this be down to a weak/wrong actuator (my guess as it was setup wrong) or could a boost leak make it drop this much?

any other recommended actuators other than the forge unit?

cheers in advance

Sorry not answering your question. But I had a similar problem with a Midland turbo on my old gt tdi 130, car didn't seem no where near as torquey as it was, after months of trying to set it up correctly I could never get it right. Very unhappy, must use cheap internals.

didnt think about internals to be honest being a big company I thought they would want to praise their name and they were recommended to me :/ hope that aint the case knowing how much I've spent to get the power I wanted

nothing wrong with the turbo on my car recently reconditioned by them. probably not setup right, they setup to certain specs, sometimes they are wrong, winding the actuater showed you this already

my re-mapper just messaged me saying it is more than likely an old actuator cleaned up thus having an old spring still in it and not up to the job anymore, going to check all pipes tomorrow for leaks and possibly change the actuator

Im having issues with a turbo from Midland as well,
Mines causing boost creep which sends the car into limp mode, They wont except the turbo is the cause even though 5 other people have had the same issue, 2 of which they sorted out.

think thats where they have done me could be genuine fault or wrong actuator, or they just set it up wrong so I have to adjust the actuator to set it up right which voids the warrenty as I noticed they marked where the bolts sat but I wasnt going to leave it at 215psi seeing as the current map is set for 270 or have fun removing the turbo only to argue with them saying its not set up right. wont be using them again. although next turbo will be bigger upgrade
