Best H7 bulbs (without converting to HID)

Any reason why some of you don't want to go the HID route?. Price, fitting, legality? etc...
Just wondering because for some of them bulbs the price is not far off the HID sets. They are easy to fit, better than any of the standard bulbs, will pass an MOT but yes are probably not legal but I doubt you'll have an issue.

fitting for me....for me it just is not quite right

having to drill the back of the casing for example. Now I am not one who isn't adverse to cutting drilling parts (take my PA FMIC as example:))

but the lights.....it's a no for me.

I have the Halfords extreme blue ones fitted. Marked for off road use of course:D but they offer a very clear and powerful light with a blue tint to them. Of course don't expect them to be like HID's but they are a good alternative IMO. (about £16 per bulb)

No need to drill for fitting hids, cut off that horrid large grommet and just cut a small notch in the inner lower lip of the light, this will hold the wires tight but not too tight and run them out the bottom. I put all the connectors etc inside light housing just 2 wires neatly coming out the bottom, it doesnt leak at all and my lights have never misted up! A neat trick you can use to prevent that anyway is the silicon sachets you get in packages and parcels, esp this time of year!

thanks mate, two minds still whether to do it or not. I know they look great, just dubious about cutting up the backs to the lights

you got any pics at all? how did you put all the wires in the light housing, doesn't it look a mess:blink:

sorry, I cant visualise it

just found them on autobulbs direct for £29.99

when I need to replace mine I think I will get a set to see what they are like....or the HID's, the jury is still out:D

Yeah I know but you either need to tap off the original wiring or if you can get an adaptor that cannects into the bulb connector then fair enough.

Well then thats alot easier, simple to connect up the ballast power just a case of mounting it which is the hardest bit then.
