Badger5 remap made my day

So I bought my '04 LCR a few months ago, I have been very happy with it. It has been remapped but I didn't know by who, how or where which worried me. It was quick but not very dynamic. It was full throttle or nothing.

Anyway, long story short the turbo had movement in the shaft and had a large crack around the exhaust housing, so I replaced it. The car is a two owner 139k full seat history example.

The doubtful remap worried me so I booked it in with bill at Badger5 ( after I ordered a new tip from him)

Anyway, today was the day....... I arrived at 09:30, after a long drive in the traffic and shite weather, only to be greated with a friendly smile and an offer of a cup of tea.

After fitting the TIP and a smoke test and subsequent replacement of a few pipes we were nearly ready!! Haha (not)

On dear, turbo feed from the oil cooler housing was leaking .....a lot!!!!!!

After the chaps replaced it and stopped the leak we were ready.

Onto the roller she went and knocked out a 245bhp run :( not amused, it felt quicker than that).
Boost spiked at a whopping 23psi and tailed off from there WITH STANDARD FUELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF. I was right to get it checked!!

Bill worked his magic and managed to eek out a very satisfying 275.5BHP which I was overjoyed with.

The drive home revealed a much more responsive, punchy, healthy powerful car, anyway.....I can't thanks the chaps at Badger5 enough for all their help.

The moral of the long story is............. If you need a remap, don't worry about how long the journey is.... Get to Badger5 for a sensible, honest and credible service with impressive results.

Very impressive figures dude :D

Was this from a stage 1 remap?

yes. Peak boost 17-18psi as its std car just B5 TIP on it, S2000 filter.. std downpipe, intercoolers etc etc
Responded very well. Fresh K04 making a nice difference.

From what I see, a lot of K04 cars are suffering tired actuators... which effects their output

Does the forge k04 actuator make much difference ? Is it a hard job to fit?

unless the bracket is strong enough to not flex on the k04 fitment, then I would personally use BBT K04 bracket and choose the 12psi version.. AND get it mapped to accomodate this.. Unmapped on an existing map it would over boost and damage the engine with such an actuator on it

forge ones come with springs to choose its operating pressure (when asked for)
to change to a forge on with std spring to me seems pointless. simply fitting something shiney not uprated

fitting access to the bracket bolt is a PIA..

/\ i can agree with Bill with the access to the actuator bracket on KO4, iv still not sorted mine.. Need to pul my finger out and strip cyl head off etc to fit it. Bill is it ok to fit the actuator and drive the car on existing map with n75 disconnected bud? Or would the car need to be mapped right away?

n75 unplugged should be fine..

Very impressive figures then!

it responded very well.

Note it had fresh but std turbo

old high milers from what I see are suffering weaker than normal actuators resulting in power power..

eg. today, another LCR in for health check, smoke test and dyno, with unknown remap, 1.3-1.4bar map request it could only muster 0.8/0.9bar after 5krpm >> A 225 LCR also.. yet this one is no where near as "healthy"

They're all different now.. Age and milage is taking its toll, and one size fits all remapping just does'nt fit the variance in these now old engines

If you dint mind me asking mate, how much did it cost for the tip, install and map?

Very nice linear power delivery on that map and great torque holding too. She must drive very well.

It's a different car now. Definetly worth the day off work, tank of fuel and mucho beer tokens now sat in bills till!!!!

I have just had my turbo refreshed shall we say, new bearings etc and I am due with you on Friday 28th this month. Would I benefit from bringing along a new actuator?
