Hi Guys, has anyone had problems with or know a lot about the aura head units!

Basically when i turn the ignition on the head unit starts up and always asks for the 4 digit code, i put it in and it turns off instantly! i can turn it on again and put the code in again and it turns off!

Does anyone reackon its a brocken head unit or a faulty connection? any help would be great, cheers!

how are you entering the code? what button are you pressing the enter the code?

has there ever been an aftermarket head unit in the car? - i ask as its common for the ignition wire and permanent or memory wire to be the opposite way around. If the head unit has been changed then this could explain.
However if it was ok then its doing this now.... have you checked the fuse on the permant live? ( i think its got one)

Hi guys, thanks for the replies!

There has been no aftermarket unit in the car at all.

I am putting in the code by typing it and pressing the bottom left key of the 4 buttons to the left of the number buttons, sound right? it did used to work that way when i changed the battery a while back! any other ideas? i would accept that it is bu**ered but the fact that it turns on with ignition and then turns off once the code is entered tells me it could be something more? cheers guys

Sounds like you are doing it right, checked the fuse on the back of it?

Yellow and red wires are only on after market head units, and then on that stereo's loom.

I have not checked the fuse...There is a fuse on the back of the head unit? i just thought if that had gone then the whole thing would not work, but you say its on the back of the head unit or with the other fuses?

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply only just got a chance to do it today! i have taken out the fuse at the back of the headset and as i suspected when that is taken out their is no power to the head unit at all, therefore wont turn on. (the fuse is fine).

sooooooooo anyone any more ideas what it could be? if i had a spare head unit i could check it wasnt that but im not sure! i dont want to go and buy one to find it doesnt work!

and i have no radio in the car...cheers guys!

the stereo is only getting a switch/ignition live and not a permanent live by sounds of it. with igniton on use a volt meter on the red and yellow wires, both should give >12volts. switch ignition off and only 1 should be live. if you have no access to voltmeter you could use a bulb and wires i guess.

my money is on only 1 wire working with ignition on, none with it off. check fuses in fuse box.

Hi there, right i will check this tomorrow, yes i do have a volt meter and sorry about rubbish reply was away at graduation all weekend which meant another 7 hours without radio in the car, haha!

i will check this but if i dont put the code in and just leave the radio asking for the code it doesnt turn off which means surely it still has the permenant live and not just the ignition, not saying your wrong, just trying to get to the bottom of it?? Ill check it tomorrow though!

Had same prob -

There's a constant feed wire you need to make sure is connected. This provides power for the memory function - memorising your sound settings, radio stations, where in the cd you stopped listening to before you stopped the engine and turned off engine so that when you turn on ignition again it plays from where it stopped.

This also is used to power the memory for the code. You will be asked for the code every time you break this power connection. I noticed this problem after i fitted a Sony head unit - I needed a Seat-Sony connection as I too had to re-enter my code every time I turned on the ignition.

Hope this helps

No ok thanks, dont want that to happen,

Chaps i have got the volt meter and i have tested the permenant and the ignition feed!

The permenant feed is showing 12.6something and the ignition feed is showing 4.72, which doesnt sound right to me, but i dont know! what could this mean, the wiring before it gets to the sterio?

any help would be great!

Yea i know which i suppose is why it keeps on turning off when i turn it on and put the code in because it has enough power to turn onto safe mode but doesnt have enough to run the radio when it actually turns on....................so...dont really know where to go next with this one!
