I have just bought myself a brand new Aquamist 1S kit for £ 200 of my mate :p

Just some advice iam after really, I fancy getting a separate tank like Bill's to go in spare wheel well.

But where should i mount the pump, are they noisey? could i put it in the spare wheel well? or under bonnet?

Should the pump be as close to the jet as possible?

What size Jet should i use and is it worth getting the map adjusted to suit it or not?

Also should i set it to 1 Bar? my car runs at 1.3 Bar

Thanks guy's

Matt

I run coolingmist water injection and they recommend the pump be placed as close to the tank as possible.

The problem with mapping your car for water injection is if it fails or the jet gets clogged up bad things can happen. I run about 30% methanol an 70% water which has allowed me to advance the timing by 4-5 degrees. I may be able advance it a bit more but at the minute with the water injection on i get all 0 Cf's. If i turn it off then the Cf's will hit 6-8 or sometimes 9 which is still low enough encase for some reason it does stop working. I also have mine set at around 1 bar

One of my favorite mods, also less is more too much and you will loose power

Would you not need a primer pump for a boot install tank?

I plan to run my 2d system off an enlarged toledo 5.5l washer bottle. The best place that i have found to mount the pump is on one of the two crash arms. They seem pretty solid and vibration free. Also with good dry airflow to cool the pump.

I'm sure that would be a good place to for an ibiza.

Thanks for the comments guys.

What about the jet size,? there is 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7 in the kit.

I was gonna try the 0.6 jet first.

Once i get the apexi setup properly and water injection running iam hoping to see 300BHP which is realistic i think.

Try .5 first and work you way up. Using vag com to log cf's etc...

From what i have read using a bigger injector you sacrafice some responsiveness for top end power and vice versa.

Water tank matters...

1. Water tank size ?
Generally about 5% to 10% capacity of the fuel tank, it will last approximately between every fuel filling.

2. What is regarded as the average water consumption?
This will vary with jet sizes and greatly with the pressure of you right foot, the first three months after the water injection installation consumes most water, consumption will drop as the novelty wears off and the system will become transparent and will be left alone and perform its duty peacefully.

3. Do I have to make a special tank for the water injection?
Most existing installations use the original windscreen washer tank. Some car makers even provide a low level warning lamp, which illuminates when water levels are getting low.

4. Would screenwash additive damage the aquamist pump?
Our water pump is safe with most forms of alcohol. The screen additive normally contains a mixture of 5% detergent, 5% glycol and up to 50% of alcohol (methanol, ethanol or iso-propanol), the rest is water.

5. If I want to use a custom-made tank, can I put it at the back of the car?
Yes, with the exception of Porsche, Beetle etc. The lowest water level inside the tank should be higher than the water pump especially if the horizontal distance is under 3.5 metres (11.5 feet).

6. What if the horizontal distance of the tank is over 3.5 metres and below the water pump ?
You need a priming pump, any windscreen washer type will do it, needs to be activated under boost.

get as big as tank as possible as it doesn't take long on emptying my window screen washer bottle. Only a few day of hard driving and it's gone all 6+ liters of it. And you don't want to be spending all your time mixing methanol and water to the correct ratio before you can go for a drive
