do you have to remap wen you fit a fmic?
Im running a ko3s with smic but holding back on buying an fmic incase i need to remap. i havent got anywhere close to get remapped

are you running k03s with smic and a remap then??? (sig says so)

if so, how are you finding it in these temps?

I didn't think a FMIC will give you extra bhp, it just lets you hold onto it for much longer.

what bhp increase should i expect with fmic and remap. mods in sig

Going by your sig, I doubt you'll see any increase in bhp. 240 is about right. What you will get is consistency. With the way your car is now, you probably nail the throttle, feel a nice shove in the back but as you go through the gears or go on repeated runs the power just doesn't feel the same as the first one. You should also get an increase in torque as the boost can be wound up slightly due to lower intake temps.

Do a search, Laguna intercooler is very popular, there are guides on here on how to fit it, also Frontera intecoolers have also been fitted guides on the forum as well.

Plug 'Laguna' into the trusty search facility. There's so much info on here, including a fitting guide, which should tell everything you need to know.

2 degrees timign increase from a fmic is good! In total damo your probably running 14-15degrees ignition on full load. very good :)

I have been told it is merely impossible to run over 210bhp on SMIC so thats quite interesting!

So its 227bhp then? and 240lbsft, Unless im reading it wrong? or is that at the wheels? Top be honest from what i have read from here i didnt think it was possible to run 240bhp with a SMIC, If thats possible why would people bother spending all that money on kits like forge etc....

It is possible to achieve that RR figure from a K03S and SMIC!

When Jabba mapped mine on the SMIC, I got 236bhp and about the same in torque. I wouldn't say this is accurate, though. Mike at Jabbasport worked his socks off trying to keep the car cool. The 2 other guys I was with, who were each having their Ibiza's mapped with the same set up as mine but with FMIC's, achieved a lower bhp figure (231 and 234) but much higher torque (all runs were done on the same day). Things is, Mike didn't have to do much to keep the other 2 cars cool. If he was to show us a graph of each car doing repeated runs, mine would have been much, much lower.
The drive home also made me realise that the FMIC is a must. My other 2 mates would just burn off into the distance, mine just couldn't keep up.

But if you read the thread, they all basically agree that it's a bad idea.

Post from link written by Ibizacupra, who owned the car................

I would'nt advise keeping a stock mk3 cupra SMIC when running high boost. It gets very hot very fast. Maybe your ambient conditions are such that they work "ok"ish, but an FMIC along the line for Forge's is certainly a better bet for sustained power under higher boost levels.

I did originally run my stock SMIC on IHI, but in a 9 sec power run it went to 90'C induction temps... so not really a good thing.

Charge Cooler then used which worked much better for road use, but sustained track use it too heatsoaked. Large FMIC now on there and all is well on the induction side temp wise.

High boost needs decent cooling, end of.

just watch you will be heatsoaked after about 5mins of driving and youll be wasted by lots of different cars!

Just remember to post up when your car is running like a bag of nails, and when youve realised your timing pull/temps will be ridiculous.

Let him decide for himself :cartman:
