My 290DSG is coming up to 3yrs old at 42k and I’m wondering about getting an extended warranty. It would have to cover the pano roof and ACC. The Seat website won’t give me a quote until the existing warranty expires (great sales technique guys), but Motoreasy suggests £900pa for an all inclusive pick your own garage policy, which doesn’t sound like great value. Anyone got any experience of Seat’s policies, or a third party ones, particularly if you’ve claimed on it?

Apparently you pay the diagnostic fee. If there is a “fault” that will get fixed, you get the diagnostic fee (about £90) back from the warranty.
It should be around £350 for a cupra a year.
They solved my issues. It well worth it in my experience. If I didn’t have mine it would of costed over £2k. I’ve also had the air con motor go the year before and that costed £450+.
My car is a Leon fr so warranty is about £280.

If your car isn’t giving you any trouble then it’s worth the risk not to get it.
But I’ve had a good experience. If you are thinking about it. It takes effect 30 days after you buy it

Never had a SEAT one but had an Audi one on my previous TTS and extended it every year. It was £500 ish per year including breakdown cover and with a £100 excess.

I don't think it really paid for itself but it was worth it for peace of mind, and the ease of dealing with any issues.

For example my window got stuck halfway down. Without the warranty I would have had a long wait to get it booked in, or had to fix it myself while having a car that wasn't secure.

With the warranty the car was taken straight to a dealer and a brand new S3 loan car was delivered the next day. Because it was a common fault (window regulator) I didn't actually pay the excess on that one either.

If you're going to extend the warranty (and at £400 ish per year and a DSG gearbox it's probably a good idea!) then I would only consider the OEM backed one. Aftermarket warranties tend to have a terrible reputation for paying out and being a pain to claim. With OEM ones you just leave the car at a main dealer and pick it up when it's finished.

I've recently signed up to the seat extended warranty on my cupra 280.

It was about 530 for no excess.
I've gone for the £250 excess which comes on at £329 per year.

This is a bargain compared to the warranty on my jaguar xf which was £1100 a year!

Agreed, sounds promising...did you phone them for a quote? Was it for all components?

No I received an email from them with a link to the website before the 3rd birthday. The website does a lookup on your reg number then gives you the options on mileage and excess before giving you a price.

I have just renewed for a second year on my FR, cost was £165, last year the high level brake failed and was covered, part was approx £95 plus an hour fitting! So must have been close warranty cost, a year older more chance of things failing, I’d rather not chance, btw, no hassle on the warranty front regards the claim, of course having a decent dealer helps.

I’ve had it for a couple of years now. Currently paying about £17 a month on my 2013 1.4tsi. That’s all component cover, no excess and over 15,000 miles per year.

So far I’ve had turbo actuator and full handbrake lever replaced using it.

Never any issues getting things replaced using it.

My 3 year warranty runs out in just over a week. A few weeks ago, I went online to get a quote from SEAT but I had to wait until there was around 30 days until the current warranty ran out. When I finally got it to quote, it was coming back with approx £715 for the all components and £0 excess. This stayed at this price until I received an email from SEAT offering me their extended warranty. I went back online to refresh the quote, and it came out at £365!

Don't go for it until you've got the email from SEAT and see if it makes any difference.

I bought 2 year extension at point of purchase from the dealer for the Cupra I ordered back in March. It cost me 350 quid in total including VAT. A no brainer even if I don't keep the car as will give extra value when selling as it is transferable.

How strange! How long before it ran out did you receive the email?

Thanks for all the helpful replies everyone, ~£400 sounds like a good deal, hopefully I can get it for the same from Seat if the mysterious email invite arrives!
