i could sort some out. might be a bit old, but halfords will still sell you one with the changer for £800

i'm not one for flashing lights personally ;) am only thinking of getting rid to replace with a becker indy pro. i'll probably put one in our lass' car.

if i decide to sell, i'll do a proper post in the classified section, or stick it on ebay.

also, you do realise it's a satnav unit?

yeah i got one of them chinese "does everything" for sale
i dont like the fact i have to take it out all the time, so i'd rather get an oem one

its a 4.3" touch screen model with tv, dvd, divx, bluetooth, mp3, wma, reverse camera input,
its great, but a bit too distracting trying to watch transformers and drive.

would consider swaping for a becker, its was £190 a few months ago.
but from the sounds of things one you have beck you dont go back

....might just sell mine on ebay.

SO, where's the best value online shop for a becker?

nice!!

bit dated looking but good none the less! would love to hear one!

Depends what rocks your boat, personally I love the look, its not cheesy, not full of crappy 'marketing' features such as xxxxxx-bass-eq-boosting-radial blahdy blah.

Bet it looks great in the flesh too with the white/red speedo.

I think becker is what i need
So
a few questions to the owners

1) I want blue tooth, whats the quality like on either end? is the mic external?
2) can you play MP3's off a CD?
3) Where is the cheapest place to get them online ...and how much is the bluetooth model?

I'll try my best!

1. Quality is good both listening through the speakers & the pick up from the external mic.

2. You can play MP3s off a CD through the unit.

3. My knowledge is 15 months out of date (thats when i got ours) but I couldnt find anyone for other than £299. In the end i paid that & got a reputable local ICE specialist to get it (for that price) and also them to fit it.

It looks spot on & importantly the sound is very good as well.

1) Don't struggle to hear people or have people struggling to hear me as far as I know. Yes the mic is external, I have mine mounted by the stereo.

2) Can't help with this one either use audio CDs or my Ipod.

3) I believe both the Grand Prix and Cascade models have bluetooth. Cheapest place.........probably ebay.

Why do people actually change the head unit. Do they not rate it?

I've actually Just recently bought a Mk 1 Leon 1.9 TDI Cupra. I've got a Sony MEX BT 5000 head unit from my old Mk 1 Megane, I'm toying with the idea of putting it in.

How easy is it to play around with wiring in the Leon. I've got an ipod connector kit, how easy is it to get to to the glove box.

I've listented to the standard stereo and I'm not sure if I want to mess around and change it or not. I'd rather just get a parrot kit or something. Thats the only reason I would change it and bought the head unit in the first place to get bluetooth and with a 6 cd changer I wouldn't really care about an Ipod connector.

One reason for me to change..........MP3

Most of my discs are MP3, if the OEM one was MP3 it would have stayed in.....no question!

theres mine me ol' mucka!

Looks good (apart from the cuddly toy :p). Im looking at the same stereo at the minute, hows it been functionality wise?

Just wondering, what have you all done with your old stereo's? Have you kept them to return to standard if/when you sell your cars or flogged them?
