Hi all, sorry for bringing up this subject again. I did a forum search and couldn't find a definitive answer on this particular car, although I found some useful information on spaceship acceleration

I took ownership of the car in the title at the weekend :funk: factory standard AFAIK. It has 59k miles on the clock.
The book says 0-60 mph arrives in 9.8 seconds but I'm convinced it's a tad quicker than this. I haven't had a chance to put a stop watch to it yet as I've had SWMBO in the passenger seat making screeching noises when the speedo moves too fast.

Has anyone clocked the actual 0-60 time? It doesn't need to be millisecond accurate using expensive equipment, just a kind of general idea to the quarter second would be good.

I intend to give it a blast at the weekend and time it. How should I expect to get the best time... Auto/Sport/Manual? Also, left foot brake and holding the throttle on a bit or just release the brake then jump on the throttle? Or handbrake?

I have to say I'm mightily impressed with the power delivery and the dual clutch gearbox is WAY better than any other auto I've ever driven [B)]

Get it remapped :), then you will be impressed.
General rumour/consensus has it that 140 PD is actually rated higher in reality, or certainly makes the best use of those 140 gee gees.
My remap showed 145 at flywheel before remap, 185 ish afterwards.
The DSG will out class any Joe average human at gear change so will be quicker 0-60, and again it has the map for best change time. Sport will probably give you best 0-60.

OK so its a rough old tractor unit but its got the kahoonas!

I'm very tempted to get it remapped but I'd rather spend spare cash on getting new discs/pads first. Unless of course a remap would mean blowing the arse off a type R lol

Well I did a very rudimentary clock today (incase anyone's interested).
ESP on, Selected 'D', let go of the foot brake and floored it and it reached 60mph in 7.7 seconds according to my stopwatch. I dare say I could shave a tenth or 2 off if I selected the sports box and held on with the handbrake.

So why such an underestimated official time?

You need to be doing 66 as the speedo (on mine at least!) is 10% optimistic.........and many Euro cars quote 0-62 (100kph) so 68 may be needed.......

If flooring it then S or D are the same - S just give more hold in the gears in 'normal' driving ie changes up later (or down earlier if decelerating), - if flooring it then max revs reached first.

Hold on brake and put revs up before releasing brake may make a small difference, though there is a delay from releasing the brake pedal before the brake is actually released (to help hill starts....) which is why sometimes at junctions the car seems slightly slow away - a DSG VAG thing.

Whatever, it is still quite a quick vehicle!
