Just another thing mate I have found since I fit my kit - I would put the top radiator hose the other side of the middle elbow/boost pipe (close to the dipstick) as mine got pushed into the radiator fan and wore through. £20 odd quid for a new one and an inconvenient dumping of my expansion tank.

Mine is a good half inch away from the radiator fan, but shall keep checking it for rubbing and move it.

How long did yours take to rub through?

It was a relatively short period of time, probably a couple of weeks. You will notice straight away if you keep an eye on it.

Thats why I am going down the uprated dogbone and engine mounts - to reduce engine movement more than anything.

SFS hi flow turbo hose ordered.

Spoke to Anthony @ SFS, they are now making the billet connector grove deeper to stop the o-ring from stepping out too far.

£59 inc VAT/Delivery. 5 Day turnaround.

Chris, need a favour, you know the red standard turbo outlet pipe, can you measure the connector that fits into the turbo please, the diameter etc as I'm going to order one from forge as SFS seem to be doing nothing to help me in resolving the situation with the connector issues :(

Are you running the standard PD150 intercooler?

If so, this is what i am ordering for my Allards kit.

THS213_MED.jpg

This has a bore size of 50mm, and my Allards pancake turbo end has a 47mm, so should be fine! :)

chris, this is the pipe that i was discussing with you the other day. I'm guessing by the fact that you are now having to buy this that it is not included in the allards kit??

So does this pipe just clip into the turbo? Was it easy to do as access to this area seems to be pretty poor?

Yeah that's the one mate. It doesn't come with the Allard's kit, just a replacement pancake pipe comes with it.

IIRC it slots into the turbo outlet and is held in place with the standard U clip. Its a knuckle scraper if you have big hands like me.

ok sounds simpleish..... my only concern is that the pipe has been so loose that it may have damaged the part that it clips into. hopefully it's just the pipe connector that's damaged!!!!!!

photos would be awesome chris, thanks!! Did you have access to ramps or did you simply jack the car up??

Also, if you do get the Allards pancake replacement pipe ring Anthony @ SFS and ask for the longer version of THS 213.2 to fit the Allards pancake pipe.

I just jacked car up from drivers side, the u-clip pulls upwards which is the trickiest bit, but if you have a head-lamp and small screwdriver you can feel for the lump on the top of u-clip and pull upwards which releases the pipe fitting.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but is this the best value pipe that you found? Are OEM more or less expensive?? Is there just a standard diameter or can you get differing sizes?

There are only two options available as im aware of.

SFS larger diameter hose

OEM hose (one size only)

No doubt the SFS hose will be cheaper than the OEM one too. :)

Part 2 - Pancake Pipe Replacement

My SFS turbo hose turned up today, all fitted and working well.

The turbo hose was a bugger to get in as its a very tight fit but once I had lubricated the o-ring it pushed in easier.

Lowered my car off the jack and the hose was rubbing on the driveshaft so raised back up and turned the hoses slightly to raise the pancake pipe up. Lowered the car and I have about an inch clearance now.

Shall upload pics later........when I thaw out lol.

Did your metal connector fit straight into the turbo with the rubber o-ring that sfs supplied chris??
