Thanks for the welcome - this forum has been worth its weight in gold in finding answers and tips.

As for my Seat dealer (in Wimbledon) - not only did they give me a free replacement radio manual but they have just given me my security code for nothing as well - absolute stars!

Entering radio security code

Mike - this is taken straight from the manual - I hope it helps:

1. Activate PROG mode
Hold the “PTY” key pressed until you hear the confirmation signal
2. Selecting and activating the CODE function
Briefly press the < or > keys to select the CODE function.
Briefly press the “PTY” key. “1000” will flash on the display screen
3. Enter security code
Enter the Radio Card code number by repeatedly pressing the "1" to "4" keys until the correct number is displayed on screen.
By pressing key "1" you enter the first digit, with "2" the second,.,.
By briefly pressing the key for a particular number, you increase the value by one unit. (After "9", "0" will show up again).
By holding the number key pressed you decrease its value by one unit.(After "0", "9" will show up again).
Example: if entering number 1703.
Do not press key "1" as this number is already correctly entered, as the screen displays "1000*.
Press key "2" seven times, "1700" will be displayed.
Do not press key "3" as this number is already correct. "1700" is displayed.
Press key "4" three times. "1703" will be displayed.
4. Confirm the security code entered.
Briefly press the "PTY" key. "SAFE" will be displayed.
5. Exit PROG mode.
Hold the "PTY" key pressed until you hear the confirmation signal.
Waiting Intervals:
ln order to avoid code deactivation with the test and error procedure, we have introduced a waiting interval of one hour after every faulty try. During this period we can switch the set on and off but it will remain silent. During the waiting interval the set must remain on. Until the interval time is not over "2 SAFE" is displayed on the screen. After this time the next try number will be displayed, for instance: "2 1000".

Apologies that I didn't spot your post before now, and sorry too you are having no luck with the code on your radio. Having tried and failed to replicate your experience on my own kit, I can't think of anything to help you if the procedure from the manual is not doing the trick for you. If you are following every step as set out then I can only think that the code must be wrong and you need to go back to Seat . I did note that you say that you are leaving the ignition on between attempts - does this not cane your battery? On my radio it's possible to leave the thing on without having the ignition on as well. I hope you have better luck with this problem soon - I know just how annoying things like this can be.

Car manual

Dear Shirley

I have a manual. Do you want a specific section or the whole thing? If you feel comfortable sending me your email address go to my profile and send me a private message outside of this thread. I'll then try to send you a pdf version of the manual (NB this may take a few mailings to achieve because of the restrictions on attachment sizes).

Hi Shirley
I think you're right. I'm sure in the past there used to be a way to private message someone but I can't see a way of doing it now. Send me your email details to [email protected] along with an idea of what info from the manual you need and I'll see what I can do.
