Think this is the reason my Airbag light is on as the resistance was going up and down as I turned the steering wheel so rung up Vagparts and its £95.00 wonder how much it would be from Seat !!

Found a place that has a load of second hand Volkswagen ones at a fraction of the price does anyone know which volkswagen would use part no. 1H0 959 653B

Also I heard Volkswagens carry a 6 year warranty on Safety Devices fitted to their cars, does the same apply to Seat ??

Cheers

current part number you want is 1H0 959 653 E which from a SEAT dealer would be £99.56 inc VAT.

A 1H part number is Golf Mk 3 but I would expect to see this part on more than just this Golf

Take the slip ring out and clean the contacts + inside the slip ring first, i had the same problem when i first got my cupra and a good clean done the trick but you will have to clear the error code with vagcom afterwards if i remember correct

Pardon my ignorance here but how did they damage the slip ring if they were changing the exhaust....

the exhaust was a complete system, so from DP back. they could not fit the CAT and pipe over the front subframe, so they removed the front subframe and diconnected the steering columnto get it to fit, and in the prosess the steering wheel rotated causing it to snap
