hey rich, nice to meet another 1.4 owner, everyone on here seems to have cupras n fr's lol,(not that i dont want one and am very very very jealous) ive been to max power show and asked them about an air filter etc, at the moment they only do a panel filter which wont do bugger s**t all to be fair,im tryin desperatley just to work out a way to get the engine cover off mine so that i can take a better look inside, then its got to be a universal fit straight on and take that little black pipe off, if u manage to find anything air filter/induction kit kinda thing plz post me a message cus im desperatley after one for mine, alex

hey alex ive found a induction kit of the exactly the same engine for the golf "K&N 57i Induction Kit VW Golf 1.4 16v 75bhp 2002 - 2004
Golf 1.4 16v 75bhp 2002 - 2004
Part Number: 57 - 0544"
i would presume this would fit the cover comes off easy ish pull one side of the enigine cover up at a time but not to much and to hard to break the breather pipe, ive got a k&n panel filter and does make some diff but not much just revs a little easyer... im gettin a exhaust fitted on sat that looks lile the fr one :D will prob sound lovely does ur car make much noise from the engine and exhaust? are u going to the ripspeed meet on the 13th of aug in london?

so the panel filter does make a slight difference, i reckon if i get the induction kit for the golf and the panel filter then it will sound a bit better and have slight increase in power, on the exhaust side of things im gonna keep it completely standard for the moment bcus the cars an 06 plate and if i take the exhaust off it will mess around with the lamdar sensor and my car will no longer be under warranty, my dealer is an absolute bunch of noooobs! i wnt there for a front splitter yday and they said if i stuck a bit of plastic on the front then the car would lose its warranty, so imagine what they wud say if i put and exhaust on lol, nah cant make the meet cus im going on holiday till the 12th and im back at work 13th, tell me waht the car seems like once you have got the exhaust on yeah cus if it makes a real difference ill buy a straight through and keep my original at home and put it on wen i need to go down the dealers. enjoy the meet, alex:D

Golf one should fit. On my old Mk2 1.4 I used a Polo one but didn't it as they said on top of the engine block. Might be worth looking at modding it slightly. Personally though thought the air filter was a waste of £80 and made very little difference at all on a 1.4
