I'm shocked to hear that Seat claim that not changing it every year would invalidate the warranty on the system - that means that it and other jobs like timing belts should be mandated in the service book.
That would be you and me both then! In fairness it was an aftermarket seat warenty, and their point was that as it was not mentioned, it should be done every year which is what the company recomend. Because it wasnt, any damage is wear and tear through neglect.
I had a quote from halfords the other day... £85 for a purge, refill, inspection and leak check. The guy said it takes about an hour and a half.
After what`s been said here it seems reasonable to me.
My independant is going to do all of that for me for £50 when I change the compressor.
i would rather a garage did it than some 17 year old in Halfords! A garage will charge the same or less than that anyway I 'm sure. I still can't believe there is nothing in the service book about the aircon. Air con man will be at work tonight so gonna sort mine now asap. Yes alot of places will be advertising air con deals so I will
shop around too!
