Advice needed on knocking from front suspension (mk4 fr tdi)

Mine does this too, a sort of a twang when on hard right hand lock and some bump or something. Will get it looked at.

I think im going to get mine looked at too,

Away for two weeks so gonna get a load looked at when I get back. INcluding the suspension knocking, the gearbox being sloppy and also I think my MAF is brown bread. Its horrible on a morning when its cold.

I get this to!

56 FR diesel, its mainly when going around corners over broken tarmac or when pushing it really hard and getting a little bit of understear.

Sounds like its from the drivers side but it comes through the stearing column, like a rattle/knocking.

Was going to pop mine down to the stealer but I mean its a hard thing to reproduce---- maybe antiroll bar?

Snap, I'm glad someone else has described the exact problems I am having with mine. I've tried explaining it to my local Seat Dealer but as yet they haven't sorted it, been out for a drive with the mechanic there but finding the right surface and road to replicate the problem has proved tricky and because of this they have yet to hear what the problem sounds like (always seems to happen on left hand turns when gunning it over a bad surface), making sorting the problem almost impossible. I'm a little worried about the amount of people saying they have the same problem though, sounds like a major fault with the cars. I'm gunna book my car in again and see if they can fix it this time.

I can hear it sometimes aswell. Its not as loud as some are describing it, but its still there.

Had it with my MK4 Golf aswell. It was the Anti-roll Bar Bushes and Drop Links, but it had done 65k and my Ibiza has only done 11k.

Might be worth a wee trip to the dealer.

I just spoke to my stealer about the knocking on my front drivers side, he said wait till the first service, unless it gets louder....

He said he hadnt had many like it before, but I said it seems a common problem, mayb a tdi FR specific problem?

well as soon as i sort my bent rear axle from being an idiot i will go see seat and mention that there is a few Ibiza owners having this problem.

I use Seat IMG warrington so will see what they say.

sounds common to me! no 1 have warranty with this knocking problem if so kick up a fuss at your local stealers!

Has anyone been back to the dealer yet!if so has anyone had the problem resolved or are the dealers still looking for an answer!think im going to wait for my 2nd service (4K more miles to go) before i go and mention it.would be good to go to them with a possible cause and solution if possible!any help would be great.

Yep, mines still under warranty and has been back many times for a whole host of problems including this one, in total it's been in 6 times and so far no joy. You can only bitch at people so many times to get stuff sorted, if they genuinely have no idea what's causing the problem your stuck, it's hugely frustrating but what can you do.

Not been back to the dealer yet as I've had to do lots of travelling over the last week or 2 and I didn't fancy doing it in a skanky courtesy car , but I am going to phone the dealers next week and book it in again , hopefully to get it sorted this time. I will post up here if I get any useful information regarding the problem.

Holders of Congresbury looked at it today, have heard it but no idea where its coming from. They've got to have it in to sort the passenger seat out and will have another look at it then.

i got a 1.4 16v o6, minez done it 4 a gud few mthz, took it bak 4 the second time but cant find nothin. every time i go 2 show dem, it dont do it. dam can make me look like a fool. lol
