You have to consider age and milage especially when it comes to tdis, is the 90 a similar age/milage to yours? Also the 90 will have a wastegate turbo where as yours will be a VNT are your vanes clogged or sticking?

I have a 90 tdi with 151k on the clock and it still pulls like a train, not saying it brakes the sound barrier like.

Surely having a straight through exhaust would make it quicker as the CAT restricts it?

Not without a decent bit of tuning though, I took mine off and can't say it's noticable tbh.

What engines are in your leons? Yours'll be the ASV or something but what about the 90? ALH, AGR etc? How's your intake manifold? They get very clogged with gunge, new air filter? Pump timing? Both using the same diesel? I get best power from regular BP for some reason:confused: Also how much fuel is in the cars at the time, that can really add to the weight, mine is quicker if I'm running low.

thanks for all the replies people!
my 110 has about 137000 on the clock and the 90 only 70000, there was more fuel in mine at the time, and i always try to have decent diesel with some millers. not sure what engine is in the 90. iv had manifold cleaned and some other bit under warrenty but my car does ocassionaly go into limp mode.
oh yeah by quicker i mean it pulls noticley more, but my turbo sounds like its working more.

thansks guys il be awaiting your expert opinions!

Do the cars weigh the same (i.e. is yours full of tools in the boot, heavier spare wheel, luxury interior etc. etc.)?

Do they have similar tyres (size, width, composition)?

Have you done any simple timed runs to make a proper comparison (same driver say up to 60 on a quiet road). "Pulls noticeably more" cold just be down to unfamiliarity with the car.

Otherwise, fuel filter, turbo actuator, sooted up vanes (you say you're going into limp mode), EGR sticking.

ismply put i think your car needs to be looked at if a mapped 90 is faster than a mapped 110 tdi , cause i had a leon 90 tdi mapped i got 112 bhp after the remap and that had 82k miles on it and also had golf gt tdi 110 mapped by morebhp.com and dyno'd at r tech rollers made 145.7 bhp and was beating stock auq cupra 1.8t's, well at least to 60mph

muttley- i have a small sub, bigger wheels and electric leathers, defo need to do a 0-60 run in both good thinking! the 90 is completey standard apart from the map.

gac- yeah i know what your saying mate but im pretty sure its not that, my friend(90 bhp owner) drove mine and noticed that his pulls harder.

im going to get some 0-60 with me drving both cars i think, try and get the same conditions for each, then have to get it booked in somewhere.

thanks for the replies really helpfull

p888uld - you say you've got bigger wheels; that may have an effect on both the initial getaway (larger wheels = taller gearing, faster top speed but poorer off the line) and it may also have an effect on your speedo reading. It depends on whether the rolling radius of the wheel+tyre combination is bigger than standard with your larger wheels, and by how much.

well i say bigger, iv got the 17" fr wheels, and on the 90 just standard seat alloys 16", you think that it would affect it much?
im convinced myself its defo not running right, hopefully i should have someone looking at it tomoz.
thanks for the reply mate

Using the helpful calculator here

the difference between 205/55 R16 wheel/tyre combination and 205/50 R17 is 0.8%, and if you're using 225/45 R17's then it's 0.4%. Not a big difference, certainly not enough to be noticeable I'd have thought.

are they different maps ??

one could be an agreesive map i,e good acceleration , other could be a smooth progressive map not quite the big punch , but is overall better etc

one could be spooling much sooner than the other

a friend had his ibiza 90 or 110 remapped had a run against mine and i thought surley not but he was still keeping with me , then got to 3 figure sums then the cupra had its top trump cards to play ,.:funk:

got the car back from the garage lastnight, booked it in thinking my actuator was going to get cleaned but apparently a vacume pipe from my turbo had came off. i didnt get charged for it , but my car feels the same! surley id feel the difference if that was the case. iv got a feeling they never looked at it.
so i think next thing is to get it on the rollers so see what im pushing.

gac- cheers for that mate, iv just recently found a RR local to me so i think im going to book in with that one.

andrewcupra TDI- thanks for the reply mate, well both cars have a stage 1 revo, but my turbo defo sounds like its spooling up quicker.

i've heard that the 90bhp models are under mapped compared to the 110bhp models not sure if this is true but if so the 90bhp models could have more bhp added compared to the 110 models.

The 110 has bigger injector nozzles and a slightly different tune but also some of the 90's have a wastegate turbo. They're both capable of the same sort of poke if the 90 is adapted though. Some T4 nozzles, a vnt 15 and a tune and you should be at the 150 mark.
