What's up with the MAF on the car at the moment?

It's under-reading, dude. See page 15 from post 294 onwards, there's some logs and graphs showing my MAF vs. Yohan's - I saw about 153 g/s on mine vs. about 196 or so on his. It's annoying, cos I only bought the bloody MAF back in March this year, from an official Seat dealer, and they won't exchange it unless there's a fault code, and there isn't.

Seremotors for *everything* from now on, for me.

I gathered I was pretty chuffed that day tho, once a working MAF was on the car it seemed to make a decent set of figures, for a mostly standard car.

Bosch sensors suck big time. They should give them away with every 2 or 3 tanks of V-Power.

Yep, time to remap soon I think, seems to be the usual winter discounts on the likes of Revo etc. but not sure what way to go yet. Options are:

Revo - doing 10% off and a free SPS switch until end of Dec
P-Torque - A bit far away but they offered to bench map my ECU if I remove it and send it to them
Viezu - never heard of before (at least not for LCRs) but there's a group buy on the Eastside forum at Motorwerks for these

Bit wary on Revo, I know lots of folk say they're good but I don't want anything too spiky. Viezu is a good price but a bit of an unknown, P-torque would mean not having the car for a few days. That said, I walk to work now so no car isn't a big deal for a few days and they're pretty well spoken of around here.

In another small update - ordered a new MAF and secondary coolant pump last week, hopefully these will arrive in a couple of days and I'll get a chance to fit at the weekend. Anyone know how easy/hard it is to change the secondary coolant pump?

Out of your options for maps I'd say Revo, that is a tasty offer they doing at the moment. Viezu are popping up and about lately, mostly when Redline mag did a feature on them mapping a Subaru. They done a few different style motors, if your on facebook search for their name and you will see their work.

Yeah the Revo deal is pretty decent, especially including the SPS box, but I'm wary of clutch and/or turbo damage - I know lots of people get Revo and have no problems but with all the issues my car has had I'm maybe a bit over-cautious. They're also still a lot more expensive than either of the other options.

But yes, looking forward to getting it mapped

Its good to hear your motors finally in a decent condition for you to considered a remap. You have every right to be over cautious considering all the problems you've had, however I definately recommend revo. As long as you go to a reputable dealer, I cant see them setting the revo map up so its going to do any harm to the car. Whatever map you go for mate I'm sure you'll love it

You could go for a custom map rather than generic, then its on the rollers and if youve any concerns about the engine they can map to suit based on their experience.

The new revo linear map is the one to go for, very progressive and super smooth. Much better than the old spikey map.. I've had both. I hated the old one and had it changed to the new one, so pleased I did... It's awesome.

Yeah I'm pretty good cheers bud! Desperately trying to get myself back home and offshore just now Accumulated yet another car!! Which has just made me want to use the Ibiza again :/ haha
I got my car mapped at Motorwerks and they are very good with their service. They used to do custom code, so not sure what the new mapping company they're now using is like... May be worth a look into.

But as far as that goes Revo would be the safest bet. Not sure who does that is it Wallace Performance now?

And have you considered Dave Manson? Fully custom map who Willie used.

Performance torque is really good down by me, but I wouldn't bother with the hassle of bench mapping sounds bit pain.

I'd go more local, I'm going APR map I think

@traumapat, yes I agree, custom map would be the safest way and given my turbo isn't exactly OEM spec (wouldn't go as far as to say a hybrid but it's got some stronger internals I understand) that would be the ideal but I don't imagine that would be cheap? No idea where to go round these parts for that either.

In all honesty I'm probably only going to keep the car another 12 months so don't want to go blowing a stack on it now, otherwise I'd just hang fire, get a FMIC and full exhaust and go stage 2. I'm kinda thinking this Revo offer may be the way to go and I'd forgotten they do a "linear" map now too - thanks Gonzo I'll check to see if that's included in the deal.

@Josh, yeah it's Wallace that do Revo now. Motorwerks still offer CC, they recommended CC over the Viezu maps to me when I asked independently earlier in the year, just that its' Viezu that are doing the group buy. I was going to go to Dave Manson but he stopped responding to emails so I guess he's not interested or too busy.

@Derek, yeah if I'm honest the idea of removing the ECU doesn't fill me with joy! If there were no decent local options I'd probably just do that though.

On the whole though, I'm looking forward to getting it mapped one way or the other.

Right, well after some long thought and deliberation (all of, oooh, five minutes) I rang my local Revo dealer and the car is booked in for Thursday next week for their linear map. All being well, nothing else will break in the meantime and their diagnostics won't show anything scary and it'll be mapped by this time next week

Apparently I have to send a copy of proof of purchase to Revo and they send out the SPS after New Year so that's fine, can't see me wanting to play much with it over winter anyway, I was struggling to keep the front wheels from spinning last night on stock boost as it was.

So this weekend's jobs will be to change the MAF, maybe the secondary coolant pump if I get a chance, and also bought 4 coilpacks from Awesome, the ones with the red border around the caps. The coilpacks were partly for peace of mind as I was kind of expecting the current ones (originals, as far as I'm aware) to start popping after the car is mapped.

Regarding the coolant pump, if I was going to do a full change of the coolant while I'm at it then anyone know how much coolant I'd need? 50:50 mix with water, yes? And is it OK to dispose of the old stuff just down a drain, or is it meant to be done properly like oil?

I'd tip the coolant down the loo, that way it's not just going into the waterways, the sewers go off to be treated. Street drains just head into the sea (I know it'll be mega diluted).

I always take a lot more to flush with some distilled water and then poor the new coolant in.

Good stuff. I think the REVO map will be the best bet and it allows to step up if you decide to add on additional components. Matty will look after you and if you come to the meet, we can log it all to make sure its running fine.
