You'll get 220BHP out of it! Do you really want more than that? I think it would be tricky getting more power down on a light car.

Ibiza Bocanegra: 1172kg Audi S3: 1495 kgs

An extra 323kg is like carrying 4 passengers compared to the Bocanegra but then it does have 81Bhp more and 4WD oh and a small matter of around £8,000

I do agree though Mardon theirs a lot more potential in the S3's engine than the Bocanegras. Think if u were just looking at an ECU map rather than other mods n if the DSG wasn't so restrictive there wouldn't be much in it still.

Anyone come up against a Clio Sport yet?

The DSG of the S3 is not restrictive as it is a DSG7 which can handle up to 550 nm !

Would this mean that if you were buying the new ibiza and wanting to improve the performance the fr with the manual box will be quicker than the cupra ?

Don't think the fr comes with a manual box only dsg may be wrong though

The diesel was just launched with a manual, I imagine the slow sales of DSG only (and subsequent slating from comics) has encouraged them to rethink this.

As clever as DSG is, people are nervous of being the early adopters

I think that the diesel FR is manual, because it doesn't need the DSG to meet the fuel usage and emissions targets and the DSG would make the FR more expensive than the flagship Bocanegra. And it would need the six speed DSG,because of the torque.

Seat will sell all DSG Cupras and FRs they make(maybe they have already sold the annual UK alocation) and the press are getting pathetic over the slating of the DSG Ibizas-the latest issue of Autocar praised the DSG Golf R and repeated their dissaproval of the manual version:rolleyes:

I can't help but worry what will happen in the future, when warranty runs out etc, and the inevitable happens to upped power through the box. Whether it be after 3 years or 5, 6 etc..
im a fan of the DSG and the boc/cupra, but it would be there as a concern in the back of my mind constantly.. :S the cost will be deadly. Plus it wont be like you could get it repaired anywhere. Replacement or specialists only, will be the only answers. Like techie said about the price of these things. Its sobering indeed. :-o
The 1st guy to have theirs mapped has got balls and ill take my hat off to em :D

It is not about balls. It is just a calculation you have to make. If you dont want to spend £3000 or something to refurbish your gearbox you should not do the tuning.
I have chosen to do the Abt tuning at my Seat dealer, this way I have three years warranty.
After that ...

unfortunately though, i can see a few people (no neccessarily on this forum) just going out for power without doing the foundation work. What does the refurb take it upto with regards to estimated torque limit etc?
