After taking my Cupra to the Motorscope Rolling Road afternoon my Standard managed the following fantastic result:-

278.6bhp @ 6198rpm
253.6lbft torque @ 3059rpm

The car is standard only has a Milltek Cat-back exhaust.

As you can imagine I was shocked, staggered & over the moon with the results.

My question is has my car already been remapped before I owned it? It was an ex-demo and 9 months old when I bought it.

I was intending to Bluefin the car at Christmas time. Question is do I bother?

Would the remap take it to around 300bhp??

On the day I was only expecting around 250bhp.

Has anyone had similar figures for their standard Cupra's?

My understanding is that the Motorscope rollers are pretty much accurate as people managed similar figures than that of a previous event at RS Tuning in Leeds.

Cheers

............Dyno lottery.

I'd try a few before believing that figure.

Would have thought it would make more if it had been previously mapped.

Its how it pulls on the roads. You been up against or compared it to any other cupras.

All good tho mate. I'd still try a remap, maybe a free trial?

Havent been up against any other Cupra's, just K03 200bhp TT's and it leaves them easily. There's not many cars that I've been passed by in my area.

I even suprised myself with an Evo 7....

I love fast cars, although I'm not one for racing especially now I'm a Dad.

Thats a great result!

As said above though the dyno lottery comes into play so definitely try another if you get chance just for comparisons sake.

Best way is to log the requested boost.

It could be:

a) Good standard result
b) Over optimistic dyno run
c) Remapped & running poorly
d) Remapped, running well, dyno'd poorly.

b & c are my favourites at the moment...

@ the OP; you said you took it to a 'rolling road afternoon' which I guess means other cars were there too? If so, what sort of power were they putting out compared to book figures? That could eliminate a couple of Mark's possibilities and I'm sure they'd have told you if there were any obvious issues with the car's running.

I took mine to the P-torque rolling road day back in january and managed 268bhp with 241 lb ft :funk: this with the car being completely standard! there were two LCRs there also which just had a panel filter and both got 224 and 227 bhp which are the standard quoted figures [B)]. Few others on here have had 260-268bhp. The map and the engine we have on the mk2 cupras is the same which is going in the VW Scricco R20 that has 261bhp/258 lb ft as standard :bleh:

My P-torque graph:

I'm pretty sure the R20 will have the same engine as going in the new Cupra R, very similar to the Cupra but with a few uprated bits similar to the S3.

The mk2 cupra has the same turbo as the S3 (twin-scroll borg warner K04) with a alu cylinder head and bigger injectors, same engine but has a different intercooler :)

Find another cupra, mapped or standard. A mapped cupra goes past a standard cupra as if the std cupra is going backwards.

Hi

its not unusual that they perform more horsepower than stated from Seat
here is my Dyno paper wiht My car Original 1 week old (Leon Cupra 1P 2008)
with Vpower in the tank.

the first result on the paper is completely stock!
The result besides the first, that is when the car was remapped a couple of weeks later.
nothing else besides remapp is done on the car then..

btw the same firm that mapped my car is also opening in Uk now ;)

my car is fixed in Sweden..
now i have even liitle more power.... ;)

No it doesnt;

Me vs Owen. Me standard and Owen GIAC remap.

To give an idea of how this compares to a MK1 LCR with full TBE, intake on stock code;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCfdtKQLkgE&feature=related

I made 14.314 secs @ 101.1mph standard
Owen made 14.220 secs @ 102mph mapped (although he was new to it)

I agree with Mork above - log boost to see what it is actually pushing. A cat back gives no real performance gain.

For what its worth my Cupra made 257bhp and 242ft-lbs when standard, and 267bhp and 243ft-lbs with a Turbo Back Milltek with Carbonio on standard map.

I know Standard S3 that are making 280-290bhp and there only suppose to be running 265bhp. I've also seen a standard FR making 195bhp. So its not unusual for some car to be running more

i would doubt that mate , because if thats the case Revo software would add 10 bhp

i dont think S3 drivers would pay £500 ODD quid for 10 bhp.

I'll find a thread regarding this and post it up once i've found it. But then Shaun from AMD must be wrong because when i contacted him regarding a remap for an FR i was interested in getting. He said that a standard FR pushing out 190ishbhp they emailed this... Start from bottom sorry:

Hi

The Milltek exhausts are £435inc vat and fitting. Remap is £399.95inc vat and rolling road runs.

Unless the car has a problem or running on poor quality fuel they will always come up over the standard quoted power.

This work would take ¾ hours to complete.

If I can be of any more help please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi Shaun

Sorry about the late reply.

Thanks for the quick reply 215bhp not bad.
Do you know how much the Milltek exhaust would be and remap? And how long the work would take?
Is there any reason why the 2.0 tdi FR running on about 190bhp standard but seat say its 170bhp?

Thanks

Ashley

Hi

Thank you for your enquiry.

The FR PD170 cars will give about 190bhp as standard so the final figure would be approx. 215bhp.

If I can be of any more help please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks

Yes it does, your results arent very good at showing the difference due to the variables of the skill of the driver on the day and grip of tires due to standing starts.

Me, h8t w8p and a sean have had a few plays now from rolling, them both being mapped and me standard and they left me for dead. The difference is massive, it really really is, they went past me as if I wasnt trying.
