Some pictures the garage took... see if you spot the bit that had to be replaced?

If it makes you feel any better. I just went to college... thought "do I need my toolbox"... nah. Parked up, sat in the car talking on the phone (whilst charging - engine off). Ran the battery flat then realised my brand new jump start pack was still in the toolbox I left by the door. Can guarantee that one time you need it, you don't have it.

Nightmare. Stuff like that I tend to just keep in my car... you know just in case.

Ordered my custom braided brake lines. Made for only my car as it’s a unique setup! Should be here next week.

Just a couple of odds and sods but may have to wait a little while for them to be fitted.

what dot are you using for your brake fluid 4 or 5.1

Not sure yet, I’ll see why the garage suggest. They race civics so know their stuff. What do you use?

Finally managed to do something myself! The car may have finally given in! Hmmm....

The brakes are on...

It’s actually a really simple job all told,

Collect all your bits together

I fitted the braided lines to the calipers first

Removed the old calipers and released the brakes lines and quickly attached the new ones

Then I bled the brakes, had this little £5 bleeding kit for years, works really well for what it is, allows you to do it on your own.

All fitted, just repeat on the other side

Few little bits of snagging to sort out with clipping the new lines on but no biggy.

I actually wonder if my old calipers were on the way out anyway as it seems to roll more freely now!? So all good.

Few very minor things to sort out like painting the rear calipers but that’s all’s for now.

I’ll get some better pictures once the rear calipers are painted and the cars clean.

They look like dinner plates lol love new discs!

Good work!

They are that’s why! lol.

Just need to bed them in now but the brakes do feel pretty sharp. They look really cool as well, pretty much fill the wheels.

The handling is very good now (it was always good), turn in is sharper and less dive under braking. Can’t ask for more.

The cars pretty much spot on how I want it for handling and stopping now.

Hurray! Finally. LOL. They look ace! Shouldn't take long to bed in. Then you'll have to slam em on and see if you can make the airbags go off.

Haha. I did a low speed application of them and stopped pretty sharpish. Well pleased so far. I’ll probably look to bleed them again in a couple of days just to be sure I’m happy with them.

Thanks again mate.

No worries. I'm just glad it's worked out for you. What's next on the list?

I'll do an updated list shortly. Will likely be a pause in proceedings while I get the funds together though.

In other news I have changed the interior LEDs to white from red so they actually work as interior lights. Got a decent set of bulbs this time and all is well. When its dark I'll post some pics of them as well.

Blimey, its been 2 months since I did anything like an update... anyway here is the list of progress... Nothing has changed much, saving and doing other stuff at the moment. I have painted the rear calipers now as well but thats it.

Completed

  • Lowering using Eibach Sportlines
  • Anti roll bar upgrade
  • Anti Lift Kit
  • Cloth Battery case replaced with plastic cover
  • New stereo installed
  • Replaced ABS sensor and wheel bearing (clearly not part of the plan but hey ho)
  • Milltek cat back exhaust
  • Wheels powder coated
  • Replace blue bits in engine bay with black
  • CUPRA brake upgrade
  • Paint Rear Calipers

Waiting

  • Darkside Turbo upgrade
  • CSR Front Splitter
  • Induction kit

Possibly if / when needed

  • Upgraded intercooler and pipes
  • Upgraded clutch
  • Upgraded injectors

White LEDs are ace. If I could be bothered, I'd replace the blue ones. Much prefer SL2s white.

They are so much better than the red, I don’t get propositioned in car parks by creepy old men and if I drop something I can actually find it.
