2002 Seat Leon 1.8 20v ABS pump code lost

Hi everyone, please could someone help/advise? I took my Seat Leon for an MOT to a Indy VAG specialist. The engine light and ABS lights were on which the codes suggested ABS pump failure. Pump was taken off and sent away to be inspected and refurbed, but returned with no faults found. However on refitting ABS pump the car seems to have lost the ABS pump code and garage doesn't know what it is, please could anyone help!

I just pulled the codes off my 2002 AUQ. Not sure if you have the same ABS module, but if so then you can try it. You may get lucky.

If not then i'd say the garage should pay to get SEAT to code it. As a VAG specialist they should be aware of the need to run an VCDS Auto-scan and save all the coding of a customers car before any work is done.

In the end, the garage employed a Mobile VAG auto electrician that has a 'book' of old codes and has managed to get car going plus was then MOT'd Saturday. Has taken exactly 4 weeks to sort though. I'll pick car up Monday (as garage not local to me) and I'll see if they have code for future ref!

Well there has been an unexpected twist to this saga! I forwarded the code extract to the garage you kindly provided and they sent a email reply saying had booked the VAG Auto electrician. I then received an email over the weekend saying all fixed and car ready for collection today (exactly 4 weeks after I first took it in for an MOT!) The bill came to £467 which included the MOT, removing, and sending off ABS pump to another company for testing (and finding not faulty despite error codes suggesting otherwise and I did see the errors), fitting a new brake master cylinder and replacing a plastic pipe on cylinder head for a coolant leak.
On collection this afternoon, I asked garage where they going to keep the code for future reference. The reply was "Well, the auto electrician never turned up, so we tried the code you forwarded on and it worked"! As well as my sincere thanks you should give yourself a well deserved pat on the back!

I've owned this car since 2013 and had just one owner before me, so very pleased and happy it's back on the road.

No worries mate, I'm glad it worked for you/them Hopefully the garage learnt their lesson and will scan the modules and save the coding before removing anything next time. Seems this can be quite common issue with ABS pumps as someone had an almost identical problem on a mk2 the other week.

Sounds a fairly good price for all that work too.
