Hi lads!

I have lost my sleep in the last few months since i saw the photos below from a forum member here in Greece.

Hes fitted one of my favourite rims in his Seat ibiza cupra 20vt and since then i cant take my eyes out of his car.

So the question is...

would they fit without scratching the front arches?

Hes fitted the Works XT7 18x8.5 with 215 35 18 tyres.

They have the concave face which i love so i am really tempted to get for my red ibiza cupra 20vt too...

What you think guys? Anyone done it?

I called this guy in the past but he lives far far away from my town so i cant see his car live.

He told me he has no probs with scratching his arches but i am not 100% convinced.

Hi al.

Yes i posted pics of the same car from Greece in the past.

I just cant decide lately whether i should go for it or not.

And the best place to get an answer for that is here ;).

Those wheels are available in 17 inch..along with the CR KAI which were my first choise BUT...

being 8 inch dont come with a concave face which is the cause for such a great look on those wheels.

17 inch and 8 inch wide looks bad on those Work wheels...

Thats why i havent bought them yet.

18 x 8.5 is the only way but i think you cannot drive the car without scraping the arches all the time :(...

8x18s fit fine on a lowered car even with 4 people in it and a boot full of stuff with no rubbing even under hard cornering.

Having a look at mine I reckon that 8.5s should fit ok but you really will need 215/35 rubber which is a bit stretched on 8.5s. Of course it does depend on the offset too.

I know 'I reckons' arent the best but 18s arent the nightmare most people seem to think and those wheels look great!

Unfortunately for the XT7 works posted above, the arches had to be rolled and extended by 20mm as the owner told me!!!

I am not going to modify my arches whatsoever even though those XT7s look fantastic...its the only way he told me to avoid rubbing all the time.

So the only option then would be to go 18x7.5 as they dont come in 8 inch wide...

The XT7s at 7.5 inch look crap!

Only the CR Kais look nice! Still no concave face but they look nice ;).

If i am going to be fitting some would the the ones shown above...

with 42 or 48 offset depending what fits better for the car....

However my main concern would be whether they would rub all the time...whether they will get damaged from our bad roads arround here easily and how bad would the 215 35 18 tyres that i will have to fit would perform as far as '' riding in confort'' is concerned... :(

Dunno....

My cupra Tdi had 18 * 8.0" ultraleggeras when I got it. The car has KW V2s and when it was set low (coilovers were at about the mid point when I got the car) it rubbed over every bump, also on motorways above 70-80 the force pushing down on the car caused it to rub when just cruising along, especially with a full tank. Also the ride quality on 35 profile tyres was horrendous! The first thing I did to the car was adjust the coilovers to max height then sell the alloys and put standard Cupra alloys on. The tyres are significantly cheaper and the ride is much better on 40's. If you dont live somewhere with perfectly smooth roads dont get 18's ;)

thanks for that mate!

WEll i am running KW V3s and even in worn tarmac it sometime gets annoying...even though i am using kw settings for my V3s...which is about half way bound and rebound.

the car is low...but not extremely low.

Its very important for me not to rub every each bump...

I already damaged one shock (400 euros cost me the replacement part) due to a small bump i run over with 80kms...

i think ill stick to my cupra alloys then...:(

I've got 18 * 8 with 215/35/R18 fitted on my cupra. I needed to get 3mm spacers for them to fit round the calipers at the front. Had no problems until just recently when I lowered car 30mm with a set of bilstein b12s. Back wheels catch occasionally when giving it some down back roads but then I've got 3mm spacers on back which I don't really need and I haven't bothered my arse to remove yet.
