600 quid? tell him to go fcuk himself, you can buy a kr head for 100 quid and pay another 200 for porting and new valves.
kr cams are only standard mk2 1.8 16v cams, not wildly different to abf but useful if you have the head ported, as i said though hes asking twice the price of what you should pay if you shop around, hes trying to get the lazy man to buy it.

heres the email i had

This is a complete and ready to fit cylinder head. It is fully built up with new hydraulic tappets, KR cams with a new cam chain, new exhaust manifold studs, and will also include a new head gasket and head bolts and also the 3 temp senders in the side of the head
This head is to the same standards as the heads supplied to TSR, Stealth, C&R etc, this including: the ports are reprofiled to allow more air in and out, and the cambers are also worked to flow the air in and out of the valves. The valve guides are replaced as are the stem seals, essentially, everything that is needed to be done to the head is done.

The price for the whole lot is £600, which is less than you would pay from C&R etc for a head, let alone with all the bits to put it straight on

seriously 600 quid is too much, you can buy a used 20vt for a little more money, and thats a whole engine, not just a head.
i bought mine for 100 quid and it was in perfect nick.

do not fit KR cams to an ibiza - the abf cams are better - KR cams are ony a useful upgrade on a 9A passat 2.0 16V.

new followers are £10 apiece - so thats £160 worth of followers
cams - you dont need
head gasket - well you would need to buy one
exhaust studs - same again x8

even this being the case, a reasonable head job by the guy he is talking about is approx £350 - so if a head costs you £50 from a scrappy there's y' £600, full price, the guys not loosing any money from what he paid for it is my guess

Brendy - "any rally shop could do you a head" - get real, most people have no clue what their doing - this guy is known to be ok

rob, ill rephrase that one, most rally prep places could put you in touch with a decent place that can do it then. to me £600 is too much, why is he selling just the head and not a new/reconned bottom end as well? would you fit that expensive head to a 60ker?
and as stu mentioned, his was 350 all in, thats almost half the price, regardless of parts, id be willing to bet a penny that there wouldnt be £250's worth of difference.

did stu's include all of the above ? no.

The price the guy wants makes sense for what you are getting, its about list for what it is - depends if thats what you want though

no idea why the bottom end is not included, maybe he changed his mind on the project, who knows

60K bottom end on an ABF should be perfect if its been looked after

beeza, dont worry too much about the bottom end, they are quite strong i went through two timing belts on the head and the bottom end was fine.
to me £600 for a head is too much, all youre getting really is a head with new valves etc and a flow job, if your own head is fine, why change it? just get it flowed properly.
the abf and kr heads have different cast marks iirc, the fact hes got kr cams (ie both) in the head would indicate a mk2 16v kr head.

you need to know its come off an engine that was damaged - has he told you this ? Hope so as he's a mate of mine. He was talking about having it mended properly though so if he's done this ? worth asking

If you knew anything about this, and the guy who is selling it, which you clearly dont, you would know he is more than capable of putting any cams in any head, KR cams does not necessarily = KR head. For whay you are getting here, providing its A1 perfect condition and properly repaired (if infact it was damaged) then the cost is reasonable. But maybe you dont need all the parts he is selling.....if not you have the option to resell the parts you dont need or not buy it.

You should ask Chris directly any questions you have, rather than having people speculate on here, he's a very knowledgeable chap who knows loads about VW's and in my experience is a good bloke.
