vtec is the most overrated technology ever, and by the way in a Mitsubishi I believe it would be mivec ;)

Horses for courses mate. I'm not a fan of small hard working engines, really. A larger engine doing less work is my preferred option.

Perhaps a Viper or maybe a Mustang would be your choice then:D

Technology advances mean that engines are getting more and more effecient and therefore engine capacity is reducing and thats been the way for the last few decades. You should have a go in the latest 1.2TSi engined cars, they're streets ahead of the old 1.6 lumps in every aspect.

My wife just got a 1.2 tsi Leon. Whn you are within the torque zone the engine is very peppy. The engine has to be worked to keep it in that zone though. The engine is so quiet you hardly know its running.

With regard to fuel consumption I find it on the poor side. It has averaged 35mpg over the last week although I do realise its only done 200 miles. I hope this will improve. If the official figures are anything to go by and taking them with a large pinch of salt I would expect to get 45mpg quite easily.

When they start putting a diesel engine in a Viper or a Mustang, I'll consider it thanks. I'll not be trying a 1.2 (or any cc) TSi engine for the same reason. That and the fact that the 1.4 is plagued by so many misfire issues that a mate of mine has a constant stream of loan cars while the dealers try and make it run properly for more than a week. And add to that the fact that they won't take it in part exchange as "It has engine issues", even though it's still under warranty.

Fairly easy to tell you're in sales rather than service.

Congrats. I love my Ecomotive 1.6CR - it's very quiet (once warm anyway), smooth and feels more refined than the 1.9PD which is a bit clattery and has a somewhat brutal shove to it.
But to be fair I liked my previous Golf with the 1.9PD too... it's just showing its age now imho. ;)

Dunno how much road tax is for your model but I ordered my tax disc for another 12 months today online. Total cost inc postage £null. :D

i will go for 1,9. 1,6 tdi gearbox ratios are terribely long. i think there ise huge perf. difference between them.
