My brim to brim average is 46mpg over 5,000 miles. This is split 25% around town and 75% cross country overtaking where possible and safe.

I managed 65mpg (computer) on a trip yesterday.... really was milking it, but it can be done

I've got the estate version, 18" wheels and some extras that will hurt the weight and MPG but the lowest its done so far (in 1600 miles) is 40.6mpg. (real, not computer read-out) I do nearly 70 miles a day commuting on mostly motorway/A roads though.

It has improved from 40 to 43mpg over the first few fill-ups. I've yet to do a really long trip to see what it'll do.

Ive found that you can put it in 6th at 30-35mph, but you're better off keeping the revs up above 1500rpm so that 2-cylinder mode kicks in. In 6th, this isn't until you're doing about 45mph.

I've had the computer reading mid 50s for a trip, but it does take a hit if you're driving at low speeds. All the savings seem to come from 2-cylinder mode at higher speeds.

Think I'm getting around 43mpg atm with a couple of long runs included. My main commute atm is only a couple of miles and these cold starts and short journey are reducing mpg. My commute is due to increase at the end of the month with an office move and I'm hoping mpg will improve

I've never seen mine below 40 and I'm not exactly Miss Daisy. I drove from Leeds to Sheffield last weekend and averaged 52mpg.

There is something wrong if you're getting less than 30 on a daily basis. It might be just your computer needs recalibrating.

After first half tank, computer says: 51.7 mpg , not bad at all, 300 miles and tank is still half full :D

Normal usage, London -> South Downs -> West Wittering -> London, London -> Cotswolds -> London and some short trips in London where Short term mpg was 30-40

Mostly in Normal mode, some Sport, Eco I abandoned quickly coz was too boring.

I have the DSG 150 TSI with 1200 on the clock. Haven't floored it coz still breaking in :D

Must admit that mine is constantly I eco mode which I never thought I'd do but I'm sat in the same queue as everybody else in my commute to work through 30 mph speed limits, sport mode isn't really necessary. I do use sport obviously just not on a day to day commuting basis.

My advice would be to ditch the eco mode, give it a few weeks and you'll see your mpg increase

50+ on motorway if I keep under 80. Always turn the stop/start off and use 'normal' mode.

Thats excellent, my 2.0TDI mk.2 would be around 44 ish

I managed 65mpg (computer) on a trip yesterday.... really was milking it, but it can be done

My average has now settled on 44MPG with just over 1000 miles on the clock, my 1.8 long term was 34MPG - so quite a difference.

Again my TDi I've never managed to get the computer reading above 61 MPG even in the middle of summer and my average is 44MPG, so for my me, this 1.4 Tsi is looking great even if underpowered..

Really??? Would assume eco mode would increase fuel economy? Might have to give it a go in normal and see what happens.

How do you know it's in 2 cylinder mode?

Had my 1.4 tsi a week now, now in my old car 250 miles cost 50 quid in fuel.
As you can see from the pic I've done more miles and it's cost less, more than happy ad I've been learning how the car drives and not been quite economical with the loud pedal

A tad over 1500 miles now in the 1.4 ST, runs are either short trips around town (med-light traffic) or 20-30 mile country road & dual carriageways. Seem to be averaging mid 40s overall.

Have a long run coming up so will see how that goes.

As others have said, sometimes at lower speeds, better to keep in the lower gear and ease off a smidge to get into eco/2-cyl. I notice a big difference if doing this in 5th instead of going for 6th, less but still noticeable 3rd & 4th.

Best ever was 52mpg being boringly steady.

my best ever single trip ( 130 miles ) was 54.5 mpg, cruise control set to 65, light traffic on m4 ...
