Hi Guys/Gals

After a bit of advice on this. My warranty expired in Sept 2013, I had it in for an oil consumption test just before this and it "passed" (although still using too much for my liking). The consumption rate seems to be slowly increasing so I am wondering what I can do as the car is now out of warranty? I heard there was a breather pipe fix which might help reduce consumption, but not sure if it is costly to fit or if I can just buy the part and do it myself? I assume SEAT Uk won't give a damn about me as the car is out of warranty?

We'll buy a seat after market warranty. Seat help sort my dsg box out one month out of warranty. However if they've deemed the usage acceptable then they won't do anything.

Let me just reassure you that SEAT don't give a damn if you're in warranty.

I've failed 3 oil consumption tests.

Failed the initial test 3 weeks ago, SEAT goal post moved constantly trying to get new breather pipes ordered.

New crankcase one was fitted on Monday followed by another oil consumption test which it failed. Tuesday there was 2 smaller breather pipes fitted followed by another consumption which it also failed.

I was handed my car back to me and told to monitor the oil consumption as the dealership had done everything SEAT had asked them to do and they can't go off and do their own thing as SEAT haven't authorised it.

It needs a new engine, the service manager knows it needs one and so does the mechanic who has been dealing with the car but SEAT basically doesn't want to know anything about it.

Think people need to start going to the right people, if SEAT do not want to know you need to take it further, no engine should drink that much oil, not one.

Anyway topped up again
Then. Two weeks later oil late come back on so from jan to now 3 times Iv toped up
It's about 5lts

They have took my car of me now after moaining and kick up about up about it. Spent so much money on oil well over £150

They said there going take it for 60mile year drive. And then see how much oil it's drunk If not there going out new engine in the car

My 2013 cupra is doing 1l per 2000km (more or less). It has now 18 000km and I didn't notice any increasing or decreasing of this value. Seat here in Portugal didn't accept my claim.
I'm forced to accept this consumption and if this is the only problem of the car that's fine by me. Just hope this oil consumption does not affect any part.

Hi everyone. Iv got a seat ibiza cupra 13reg and I'm sorry to say worse car I have ever had.
I had it a year and from
Day one problem after problem

Let me start with saying about the oil
My god the car drinks oil like we drink water. 24 lts in one year.
Seat said there isn't no problem. And didn't Believe me until i showed the bottles of oil I used
It has took me this long to finial get it sorted.
There going put a new engine in next week

Even called up seat head office and some women named Megan said because I didn't by the car from seat dealer ship and got from a private dealer they did not know what the car was like when I got it.
! And the best thing I could do is sell the car.
No one tells a owner of one of there cars to sell it.

It's like me saying I work for apple. But go buy a Nokia

Anyway then the other problem i started having was gear box would kick and thump when it changed , (automatic )
Still trying to get them to sort it

Also the car was losing power. When it took it in they said the car wasn't getting air. !? And when they had a look they said the wires had melted !?
Now this not even a 3 year old car. And I had all Thai problem.

Anyway has anyone else had any of the above

Thanks guys.

I had poor oil consumption, the exact same with the gear box and mine misfired. Turned out I needed all new spark plugs and coil packs, I then had to have the whole of the twin clutch replaced because that's what was causing the jerking in the gears. All seems ok now though. Mines a 2010 model but with the battery in the boot

Yeah mine is in the boot.

And it's took me over a yeah just to get the engine change.
Iv read so much about people having the same thing.
Iv had all that change apart from the the twin cluch. All I want is a car that works. Seat head office think I'm making it up like Iv got nothing better to do than keep taking car in

The women at head office had the check to say if not happy sell it.

Are dealers doing that mod for all people with that engine, or just cases that meet certain criteria?

I last posted about mine 2 years ago and .... it' still an issue. It seems lately to have been getting worse, but I have been driving more than I usually do, but not doing excessive miles.

Since I last posted about it I've had the power steering fail, which is probably unrelated, and also an issue which turned out to be related to boost control. Car was hunting around in cruise control, then suddenly lost all power. Engine still running but only on tick over. Full reboot would clear for another 10 miles or so. Both fixed under warranty, both expensive for VW/SEAT!

Warranty ran out in April, but given the problems I'd had I took out a years extended. I'll have had the car 3 years in Feb so think I'll get it traded in as I'm losing confidence in it. Which is a shame as when it runs well it's a great wee car.

They did the test on mine for free as a "gesture of goodwill", but the result was that they thought the consumption was within their acceptable tolerance levels, so the car has had none of the mods done to fix the issue.

Currently own a 2010 tsi cupra
Had it 3 months done approx 1500mile and has drank a litre

Car has had dsg recall and also work done by seat free of charge to solve miss fire problem.

Just wondering if there is any thing seat will offer to do? Guessing mines out of warranty?
I love the car drives mint just have a constant worry about something going wrong and don't really want the car to be drinking oil.

Anyone had any problems on passing emissions tests on Mots?

Hi, I've had exactly the same work as you done Chris and also had the twin clutch unit replaced. After all that mine stopped drinking oil which is really weird as none of the work as far as I'm aware should impact the oil usage, unless they did something else while they had it which is highly unlikely! What work on the misfire have you had done?

Not really that clever with mechanics but it's a 2k bill done when previous own had it looks like piston replaced and spark plugs will have to double check it. Dsg is sound with mine no issue at all but I did ring seat to confirm the recall of the oil had been completed.

So your oil consumption totally stopped?
Am using the correct vw grade oil which I heard can help and also running car on v power

My mechanic simply says there is no solution

Ah right I had coil packs and spark plugs replaced plus the gearbox recall and twin clutch and it all stopped the misfire which in turn weirdly stopped the excessive oil use. It does use oil still but no where near the amount it was before, I was near enough filling it up again after 2 weeks, now I just have to top it up probably every 6-7 which is probably more than you would like but it's a hell of a lot better than before. I've never had any issues with the MOT on emissions or anything
