£2000 to spend on Mods

Hi all you modification entusiasts! Im a newbie. I was once competent with the modding of my Type R ( 3 yrs ago ) but since then I have lost touch with the world of cars and mods.

I am on the verge of purchasing a 225 LCR and looking at my budget I think I am going to have another £2000 available to modify the car with.

What might you suggest I would be best spending the money on ? I would probably require to have most parts fitted for me as im not a mechanic by any means!!

Apologies for the lack of info.

First priority is to increase the speed. Obviosuly i understand that along with this there is a requirement for better breaking and handling.

Sound is not something im too worried about.

Braking is not an issue till you get to Big turbo applications
With the proper discs and pads the standard sizes are well good
For speed....
Cold air induction kit with feed fed to a cold air location Approx £150
Forge Front Mount Inter cooler £620 on Group buy just now
Forge Turbo intake pipe £60 2nd hand on sale section
4 BAR fuel pressure regulator (i think) £50
Remap £500 for a live on with expected finish BHP about 265 and torque about 280 ft.lbs

Thanks for the prompt replies. Sounds like there is quite alot I can do for the money then.

As for fitting the parts!? is this something any garage could do or should I look for a specialist in my area ( Bristol ).

s3 upper front strut brace £45 quid, £45 to fit

uprating you DV (depends which you go for)
better tyres??
personally fitting arbs is a must (whats point in going fast in a straight line if you got to slow for the corner?)
but i agree with rik the dog bone is the best mod you can get for price/ improvement
then theres always a down pipe along with new exhaust system however thats likely to use half your allowence

I was considering the full exhaust system modification but wasnt sure if it was as benifical as several smaller mods.

I really need to find out what works best together. Also I really need to start looking into where to get this done ! :)

Exhaust (now that piper have designed one specifically for the LCR) is the biggest performance boost after a remap
You'll get a full PIPER system from 3" DP to 6" x 3" back box for £1,000 which is a very good price

where are you in the UK mate
best bet is to get in touch with people in your area and see what they have done before you on a spending spree-oh and spend months reading the forums

as far as exhaust goes alot of people on here tend to go for blue flame, but there's always miltek but as above piper have just developed a new one
but for purchasing these suff i would take a trip to awesomes website as they do loads for you to sink your teeth into

Im in Bristol Rik.

Ive been browsing this forum for a while trying to pick up some ideas, but the truth is that there seems to be sooo much you can do....its hard to decide what is best.

If i were to go for a stage 2 remap and this exhaust system what might i expect the bhp to be ? ( i know this is a hard question! )

im keen on the dog bone mount and the upper front strut brace aswell.

With a good custom live map you would see 270ish MAX
But the exhaust will allow this power to come in quicker and stay for longer:)
I'm not one for this stage 1, 2 and 3
The guys I would use do it right the first time;)

just reading your signature...... do you only have the rear arb?
do you not find it over compensates now?
ie the back is a bit twitchy and is delayed by a couple of seconds in responce

AND considering I'm in Scotland it would be www.starperformance.co.uk

But I wouldn't use the ones that load a generic map onto your car because this was designed for someone elses car and not specifically yours
So as you will probably not come up to Scotland to get it done I'd advise that you go to someone that has VAG history, that has good rep and minimum a rolling road to give you before, after and be able to 'live map' the car
This is the only way I see to get the best out of the map and the car
The live maps are no more expensive than some of the generic ones but have better results
I would feel well ripped off if I paid £500 just to have someone elses software loaded up to my car
But thats my opinion, there are others

No have the front upper strutt brace and newly updated VAG front ARB with new bushes
Cars handling is brilliant, handles very well.
If you can drive a car well you will feel this is almost as good as new suspension

Fair enough, i see your point.

Ill try and ivestigate locally and see if there is anywhere that does what youve described. thanks for the advice.

Don't get me wrong there are alot of guys with a generic map who will rave about them, and they are good but when I get it done it'll be a 'live map'
Maybe ask for some ideas of mapper in your area, I'm not too sure of any in your area
But I know for sure its only 6 hours drive from Bristol to Star performance
And it would only be 4 hours on the way back...
YEE HAA!!!!!
