hello need a bit of help again. my out side air temp is way out by about 10 dergreses or so, dose this sensor allso tell the e.c.u what the air temp is and could this give you bad enegine running?

As above really, for the past few weeks the temp gauge wont make it all the way to 90(half way). It happens more when its non stop drive ie crusing at dual carriage way speed, but during stop start traffic it seems to warm up fine. It didnt make it all the way to half way on my drive home last...

I think my temp sensor needs replacing as I get the common --/-- reading for outside temp. Firstly, how do I get into the mirror casing? Is it from underneath? And does anyone know the part number? Is it used at all on any VW's?
