Hi all,
This has been discussed a few times on here already but I wanted to get a fresh opinion.
I've recently purchased an 05 LCR from a garage. The car used to belong to Ben CTR who is a member on here. It has nearly 84k on the clock. It has been serviced at the correct intervals by a...
Had a recent tensioner failure on my cambelt setup and wondered if the belt could of jumped any teeth without causing mechanical issues, but creating timming issues? Or would it of spanked the engine straight away?
Just a bit concerned that the garage could have re-installed the belt 'like...
Got a new cambelt kit fitted in Dec 08, even though my LCR had only done 36k (5 years old).
9 months on and the tensioner failed!!! Lucky for me I heard something was up and investigated before it fecked the engine.
Lesson learnt = Hear a noise, check it out!!! ;)
New genuine...
Where is the cheapest for a PD cambelt kit it has to be genuine parts ive been quoted £108 for the belt and 2 rollers from the dealer and then need the metal water impeller water pump too.
Is there anywhere cheaper.
howdo ladies and gents
what it is, is when a start my car in the morning and it is cold it squeeks sounds like the cambelt but my cambelt is chain driven as it is the 1.2 so could i need a new tensioner on it or is it something else the cars done a respectable 70000 miles and herd that you...
I know this has been covered before but how much havepeople paid for the two to be changed?
I have just been quoted £466.12 by my local Seat dealers where I got the car from, seems a bit steep to me :(
Only me again!!!
Just spoke to my local Seat dealer and they quoted me £275.97(parts & labour inc) for a Cambelt kit which includes the rollers.
To me that sounds a good price. People who have had theirs what do you think?
Also whilst they have my engine it bits anyone know the price of...
Hi guy's,
had my cambelt changed but didnt think anything about buying and replacing the tensioner which is seperate to the cambelt kit.
Does it need to be replaced?
I am also getting a little squeak from the engine bay when its hot and just been started but goes away once reved a...
I'm mystified. I am changing my cambelt and decided to change the tensioner and roller. The tensioner is "off centre" so rotating it varies the extent to which it presses on the belt. Is it simply the central nut that stops the tensioner slackening off when its mounted ie the tension of...
I am trying to change my Arosa SDi diesel engine for one I bought in a scrap car. The engine and gearbox are on my bench and I am planning to change the cambelt before swapping it. I have taken the 4 bolts out of the pulley at the end of the crankshaft, but the pulley refuses to move. Am I...
Had the cambelt changed and full service at 57k miles.
Now, when I accelerate from 2nd, 3rd and 4th, from stationary and at lowish revs, i feel a fairly harsh vibration through the accelerator pedal that definately wasn't there before the belt/service was done. It's not something that has...
Applying the throttle, the turbo kicked in, reached 3K revs then the drivers side of the engine sounded as if air/pressure (!?) was escaping. Like a woooosh noise but not by choice! Then after 20 mins of driving the noise goes and the the car has no pull in it!
Is this normal after a CamBelt...
Hey folks,
I know the cambelt should be changed at 60k. However, is it 60k or 5yrs, whichever comes first?
Basically - If you owned an 03 plate Leon with 35k on the clock - would you change the cambelt? This mileage seems quite low to worry, but I think there is usually an age limit too...
Anyone know the best place to get a cambelt kit and waterpump..... looking to get this done on Friday but cant find many places online where the kits are sold
Regards
Lee
Hi all,
I used to have access to this site, but couldn't get on recently so have resigned up.
Anyhoo.. I had a friend change the cambelt on my car (53k) he's a reliable source and used the Awesome Gti timing belt kit. He said he only disconnected 2 electrical/sensing things but now my...
Is this a job that be done DIY?
Been frightened by a couple of quotes to get this done, thought about doing it myself.
Have done cambelt on 3.0 V6 Omega and 2.V6 saab, so hoping the toledo 110 Tdi won't be any more difficult!
I have a bora haynes manual - does the toledo differ much...
Thinking of just replacing the cambelt without replacing tensioners etc?
This little roller was making a bit of a noise - and had made quite a mess of the cambelt (which fortunately had not actually snapped).
Not from a 1.8T by the way - 1.6 16v.......
Hi,
My wife's Altea is approaching 40k miles and 4 years and I would appreciate advice on what parts are required to carry out a DIY cambelt change? I have changed cambelts in the past and am generally pretty capable mechanically but I need advice on which parts need to be changed (eg...
