Any recommendations? Stealer is quoting me around the 600 quid mark for the service and cambelt change. Now I know it's a big job but my pockets aren't that deep! I've still got a few months to save up for it but can anyone recommend anywhere decent in the Leeds/Yorkshire area that might be able...
Hi there.
After much looking about all around the midlands I've finally got myself a '51 plate Leon 90bhp TDi. It has just 25k on the clock, one owner, Full Seat Service History etc etc and needless to say I'm dead chuffed!
I have one question though. It may be answered in the book but as...
Sod paying a garage over £300 to do it......
Went to VW this morning and bought the Cambelt, Tensioner, AUX Belt and PAS Belt, all for about £60 ;)
Then spent about 2hrs this afternoon fitting them :D
Took it slowly to make sure I didn't c0ck it up etc, and screw the timing up...
I had the cambelt changed on my car 3 days ago. Got it back and drove it to work yesterday. When the car is at standstill, there is a belt whirring noise. When the engine is revved, the whirr increases in pitch and it gets drowned by the noise of the engine.
This cannot be right. Like fan...
Well just had the 30k service done on the Altea and I thought that I would pluck up the courage to ask how much the 60k cambelt change would be on TDi Sport......
Get ready cause this is gonna hurt:headhurt:

Will be picking up an '02 Cupra in the next week or so. The mileage is at 58,000 miles and I asked the seller about cambelt changes.
He stated that the belt was only checked at each service interval and if it looked OK it wouldn't be changed. I thought that around 60,000 miles it would...

Been quoted 275 quid for my cambelt changing at a local garage (usually alright) promptly told them i thought they were taking the pi55 and have rang my usually very friendly garage and they say 150 quid still! i was under the impression a cambelt change was about 100quid maximum, its only 50...
Thinking about changing the cambelt on my 2.0 SX, It's been done at 40k and now is on 80k. Does it need doing yet?
I'm half tempted to do it myself and save money. I've done cambelts on 1.8 16v Renaults 19's.
Can't see this being any harder? Anyone got any hints or tips? Any special tools...
Just had a 30k service completed on my Leon Tdi 110 and casually asked how much the cambelt would cost to replace.

The parts were approx £85 with the rest being labour charges (3hrs).
