after trying to find some info out and with lots of different things about i decide to try and help people out by compiling all the stuf i used and found out to swap to a flip key
1 you will need a vw skoda or seat flip key with two buttons of ebay or anywhere with the mhz rating as your key. most prob 434mhz like mine and some are 433mhz and harder to get hold of.
2 try and get one with a blank blade
3 get that cut to your car at security place or somwhere that casn cut these keys
4 to change the imobillisor chip you need to seperate the flip key top and botton
5 then remove the badge( took me ages to figure out why i couldnt slipt the top bit!) you will then see a small screw undo this then the key will open up to reveal a little cylindrical chip.
6 you then need to open up your spare key the one with no remote this is easy did it with my nails and in that you will see a bit of white rubber and under this in the chip place this in your flip key and put flip key one in hear for now! to keep it safe
7 then reassemble the key and get seat badge from dealer
8 to code the remote you need the old original key in the ignition with it turned on then lock the door with the new key remove key then press unlock and horn will blip wait 6 second and press unlock again the key is now coded to your car!

cost about 30 quid including new badge and plenty on ebay
the key part no. i got and that i know works is HLO 1JO 959 753 AG
this is of a bora and mine was only 6 months old so the news batch of keys do still work!

hope this gives you the info you need
cheers gaz

for the people with 433mhz keys thats for you! wil post up more if i find them!
last to will ned new blades but they are about 4 quid for two on ebay! and held in with a pin!

Cheers for that - my searching method was pants! Watching 6 on ebay now so hopefully get one soon.

Where have you guys been geting the blades cut - Timsons? or does it need to be a specialist? How much to get the blade cut? On or off of the key fob? So many questions!

For what is worth the 2 button flip key for MK4 Ibiza (as well as Mk1 leon) is
1J0 959 753 CT
corresponding key (which will be cut if ordered through a dealer) is 6L0 837 246 B INB

Now then about the frequency . . . THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 433 AND 434 MHZ. The correct frequency for all VWG cars in the UK is 433.92MHz. Some people round it down to 433, others up to 434 but they are the same.

So why does the key for my car have printed on the side of it 433MHZ and some others have 434MHZ. Surely the keys are all manufactured by the same people so if they were all the same frequency then they would all same the same thing on the side? Also, looking on ebay (not the experts, I know), there are 3 different part no.s for VW flipkeys, 1 for 433, 1 for 433.92 and 1 for 434.

My car's key is a Hella one and has this on the side:

730 955-00
433MHZ 5FA 007 680.

Bearing in mind that the 433MHZ keys on ebay are going for more money than the 434 and 433.92, are you saying it doesnt matter which one I get, I will be able to set it to my car?

This isn't a rant by the way, I'm just very confused.

As I said they are all the same, it is just semantics. Call any Audi, VW, Skoda or SEAT dealer and ask for the EXACT frequency on their version of ETKA and they will all be 433.92MHz.

The parts are different prices because they are probably different parts. In addition to the flip key part number I gave you there are three other flip keys for various SEATs of various ages, one is 3 button, the other two are 2 button. They are not all the same price.

So yes all those remotes will work on your car as long as you can get a blade cut that fits them

Have a look at post 9 on this thread, the guy got a 433MHZ remote for his golf and it didn't work cos his is a 434MHZ. I've just bought a 434MHZ key from ebay - I really hope this works!

Thanks, I await with interest to see if it all works!

Out of interest where have people got their new key blades cut? Do the likes of Timpsons do them or is somewhere more specialised required?

just had a look at a vw flip key

it is well easy to take apart and fit the chip thingy from the spare key, also the spare key comes apart with finger nails

however if the ebay key comes with a chip in it you will need to brake the chip in order to remove it as it is glued in

if it comes without a chip, so much the better

fingers crossed :)
