Just thought... Might be that gauge is faulty?

When I connected mine up I am sure the lights & needle all came on?

Can try at weekend if ya like as gauge is in the garage at home....

using the connector that plugs into the dash dimmer switch, connect the orange wire to the red wire (on connector) then connect the yellow and the purple wires together on the +12v switched supply. I can't see why you'd want or even need a permanant +12v supply!? With a permanant connection the guage will be lit all the time! Surely you don't want that!

Fidge - thank you for the very clear instructions - I'll try this today. The permanent supply I think is there so that the gauge has "memory" when you turn the ignition off so that it stays on the same colour selection for the LEDs and you don't cycle through the choices every time you turn the car on. I could be very wrong here as electrics aren't my hot speciality.... but I certainly don't want the gauge on all the time!

I'll try the orange to the red wire on the dimming loom and the purple and yellow both together to the one that the purple is already connected to - switched. Hope nothing goes pop!!

Gauge could be faulty.... did you connect all your 4 wires to make it all light up? I'll let you know how I got on following Fidge's advice - if no joy then certainly some direction if you've done this already would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Hopefully it'll all go ok! You could be right in saying it may have a memory for which led was last lit but I can't see it myself.

I'm assuming the orange wire should be connected to some sort of dimmer as the diagram suggests. If this still doesn't work I would then try connecting the orange together with the yellow and purple then see how you get on with that.

Good luck! ;)

Righto - have come unstuck straight away - I don't have a red wire in my dimmer loom.....

Now I know that VAG seem to change the colours of the wires between different cars - even though they perform the same job etc... so I grabbed a couple of quick pics of my loom (see below - bit over exposed!) and was wondering if you could tell me which one is in the same position that the red one would be on the loom?

Cheers

Wired it all up as per above - adn everything is working - thanks Fidge! :)

Only thing is that it doesn't stay on the selected colour everytime you switch it off... have to click through to the right one everytime you restart the car...

Yellow is for LED memory. Connect it to the constant live (mine was red) all should be good.
