Did anyone here change the tyre profile from 40 to 45? The ride is too harsh for me and I don't know if changing the profile will affect how the car handles

If you change from 40 to 45 profile you will also need to go to narrower tyres or 17" wheels to keep the tyre overall diameter close to the same.

My Leon FR definite had a better ride on 225/45-17 than it did on 225/40-18. No noticable difference in road holding or handling. Steering maybe not quite as precise.

But this means you changed the 18" rims and I don't wanna do that I just need thicker tyres.

Seriously?

To maintain the overall rolling radius, you should reduce the diameter of the rims if you increase the sidewall height.

Agree. And changing the overall rolling radius would also mean the speedometer reading would be inaccurate.
