Heater resistor issue

Evening all. Issue I have is on the left side of the car I get full output from the heater and full range of temperature too but on the drivers side (right) the fans don’t blow as strong and only get like warm on highest temp setting. Soon as you back the temp off by even one setting it blows cold. I e reset the fans numerous times by pressing the air on button and face setting button together. Lights flash for a few seconds and I can hear it going through the motions but never sorts the issue. I know I need to replace the thermostat on the front of the engine as it’s stuck in the open position but that would only cause the temp issue in my opinion not the fan output. Any suggestions at all? I bought a new resistor after watching a few videos etc only to find where the resistor goes on the videos is actually blanked off on my car. Wasn’t expensive so no biggy but still a wasted expense. Photos to show what I mean.

Apologies for the long thread but wanted to get as much info in from the start. Car is a 2010 Leon fr cr 2.0tdi 170bhp

Your model doesn't have the card style resistor, it has a larger one built into the fan unit. They're less prone to failure IMO.

Also, you tend to buy the fan and resistor as a package now, because they remove/install as one. I'd buy a new fan&resistor unit, you might find the motor in your fan is playing up.

Thanks for the reply. I took the fan out and tried every speed level and it got stronger with each setting so im thinking it’s maybe an issue with the flaps behind the dash. Would you happen to know if that’s an easy job to access them?

Sorry not done those, there might be a calibration step you could try:

otherwise, there are guides out there for replacing the motor on Golfs and such, which is pretty much the same procedure.

Excellent thank you. First video shows a newer heating system but the button sequence is exactly the same as what I’ve tried. I’ll have a look underneath and see if I can spot an issue with the motor. Again thanks for the reply.
