Seat Ibiza - Oil filter cap stalk seized and broke

I was doing a service on my 1.6L CAYC 2013 seat Ibiza today. When removing the oil filter, the plastic rod that goes down through the filter snapped off while undoing the filter cap. It was seized in the bottom and we are struggling to get it out. We have managed to use a hoover to get all of the plastic bits out and clear the housing of any debris but the thing won't budge. Using our hands to yank at it and needle nose pliers to try to pull it out didn't move it.

I have a new filter cap on order but I need advice on getting out this plastic rod. It doesn't twist at all and pulling on it doesn't budge it. The last thing I want is for more of it to break and have to buy a new oil filter housing.

Has this happened to anyone before, if so what did you do to go about it? or does anyone have any advice? Thanks

Never seen that before!

Is it this part here? housing

The photo at least gives you an idea of what / how much is stuck in the housing, though obviously you'll suss this when you receive the replacement item you've ordered.

I'd use copious amounts of WD40 and try to ease the thing out with a gentle wiggle action. Presumably it's only the small rubber seals that are holding it in. Worst case scenario, there are Febi replacement housings on Ebay for around £50, assuming part number 03L117021C is the right one.

HTH.

Yes, that is the housing cap. I could not for the life of me get it out. It is so seized that it doesn't even turn or move. I tried WD-40 with a heat gun to loosen it but even after 2 hours total of trying it still wouldn't budge.

In the meantime, I ended up ordering a new cap and cutting the rod out of the new one. When I next service the car at the end of summer/ early autumn, I will change the whole housing, along with the oil cooler as the housing is prone to coolant leaks anyway. Thanks for your advice though :)
