[Leon FR 2015] Upgrading USB to retrofit CarPlay

Hey fellas, long time reader but first-timer posting.

I have a 2015 Leon FR with dual-usb ports in the center console with a MIB2 unit.

To cut a long story short, I've activated Full-link via the MIB2 Toolbox (via OBDEleven with the VAG plan for coding) and Android Auto works absolutely fine - the problem is, I have an iPhone and unable to use CarPlay - I get an error message like "USB not recognised" (just with iPhone).

I've been told I need a new USB port but I cannot find any solid guides on how to replace the port and/or the wiring if the new connector can't be fitted onto the existing wiring.

I found an old thread from 2019 with the manual I need but the Google Drive link just isn't found when I click it.

Any help would be appreciated as I'm at my whits end.

I'm sure that 2015 Leons only had one usb port, if you replace with the correct USB socket for Car-Play then it should be a straight swap.

Mine is a 15-reg Cupra and has no USBs anywhere, and no CarPlay. Sucks in that sense. Oh well.

You can upgrade to MIB2

Thanks. I’ve pondered this a few times during my ownership, but also decided against it. Thought about a VC too, but for the money, it’s just not worth doing aftermarket for me. I’ll just buy a car with VC and MIB2 or higher next time.
