1.5 eTSI problems

Hello. I've been having some trouble with the mild hybrid system. My dealer hasn't been able to fix it for about 2 years. I have been getting this since new. Also I get error messages for the start stop system and drivetrain. The most obvious problems:
1. When slowing down from 50-60 km/h the mild hybrid regens and I get a feeling as If the clutch has been engaged too fast, like driving a manual when you drop the clutch. I feel it, the passengers feel it, really annoying.
2. The breaking is not homogeneous. Sometimes it breaks too hard and the nose of the car dips, then suddenly it can disengage and the stopping power is as half as strong. If you won't be careful, you could hit a car in front.
3. When coasting with the engine off, when I brake, the engine kicks in, but before that happens the car lunges and then suddenly starts stopping really hard. Really annoying.
4. Driving slowly in start stop traffic, sometimes the car "kangaroos"back and worth when engaging a gear.

Maybe someone else had these problems and got it fixed somehow?

I've been experiencing the same issues with my Terramar 1.5 eTSI - especifically your points 1, 2, and 3. Has anyone found a solution for this? The dealer service seems clueless about what's happening. Also, I don't receive any error messages, but the braking feels inconsistent.

That is the issue with regen from an ICE vehicle momentum, it isn't smooth or progressive like with a pure EV but a lumpy mash of generation and braking - with mixed results for comfort.

I had the same issue with my new mild hybrid, getting used to the generation phase kicking in then out means you have to be ready to ease up on the brake, then ready to push harder at 20mph when it just cuts out.

You just have to adapt your driving style to match, the system is what it is and you can't change it. Tapping the brake gently (or the downshift lever) when coasting should engage the engine and regen to slow, brake smoothly and lightly until 20mph then harder to stop.

I think the worst effect comes when regen is just kicking in and you also brake, until the system reacts you are getting double the stopping power.

Why would anyone want to drive like that? Now I have to think about how my car will react every time I brake. That’s just ridiculous!
In my opinion, this is a clear malfunction.

I have a 2024 Cupra Leon 1.5etsi, and I haven't experienced anything like your description.

I would assume it's not normal operation and your car has a fault(s).

So far, I've found the 1.5etsi very smooth. The regen causes foot-off slowing to be a little more pronounced, but ok once you expect it.

I think it's more the individuals perception of 'smooth' than likely a fault, I noticed it certainty but adapted my braking style to compensate.

Once you are used to it then it's fine, it's only when I've been driving a pure EV that this mild hybrid system seems harsh.

I also found a couple of the brake assist systems were making things much worse, turning them off helped a lot.

I started braking with a bit less force, and it seems to be a bit better so far, but I'll need more time to evaluate.

Which brake systems are you referring to?

It was a while ago but I recall it wasn't an obvious thing, like in the assists menu, instead it was the ACC system - even though not engaged was still active and 'helping' when I least expected it to.

The option that was ON was Road Layout Response (inside ACC), but turning it OFF didn't help.
